Rosenior said we're hoping to get him back on loan again next season, in which case it won't just be for Palace's benefit. If Jarvis was ready to be playing he would be. Vaughan will get game time soon and it sounds like there's another academy player close to forcing their way in too.
My problem with Ebiowei is when he doesn't have the ball. He stands there looking lost, takes no part in the game, marking no one and not tracking back. He either doesn't know what he's meant to do, doesn't care or can't be bothered. None of these are acceptable in a player who, although young, has been on Premier League teams books for ages. I expect 90+ mins effort from a player, not 15. Until he's prepared to put a shift in he's a waste of a shirt and no, its not cultural it's him.
That was occasionally true for his first couple of games, when he looked completely lost, but he has tracked back really effectively in the last 2-3 games. in fact my concern recently has been the opposite - he does track back but his tackling can be a bit agricultural at times.
Not my observation on Saturday - he has more skill than Ally... though less physical attacking threat and if his get close to the player and can't get through or round them sort of gave up, did not track back and lack of any tackling industrial, agricultural or technical - we cant wait for him to develop if we want to push on next season - though I think the manager is looking through Rosie coloured spectacles...
I'm not sure how it's for our benefit even if we keep him next year. The kid's got talent but he's miles off the finished article and by the time he's even close to being ready it won't benefit us. Considering Acun is investing well, there's no reason we can't get better, a lot better.
A successful loan is one that benefits both clubs Can be difficult Usually its a young player whose not quite ready for the higher level Sometimes they work Sometimes they dont
He seems to be the current trendy player to slate excessively but there is a reason he was signed by a Premier League club after only a few months of senior football. He's clearly got talent, and he has shown it in a couple of games for us so far. If we get him for another year we'll see a lot more of it. At times this year we've been crying out for a winger who can beat a man, well he can do it. If we can have him fit for a spell whilst also having a decent striker on the pitch at the same time then we're onto something.
I don't think he's been slated excessively at all. He was criticised at the start, which was completely fair as his attitude and desire looked miles off it but I think everyone I've seen has said he's improved. I don't buy this argument that a PL side signed him either so he must be decent, whilst he's obviously a talent he was available for knack all and it's a low-risk punt for any PL side so I'd completely expect one to take him. He's okay, but he's a 19 year old kid and he plays exactly like his age. Whilst some of his dribbling is eye-catching, his end product makes it pretty pointless. As I said, I think there are better players we can sign for a push next year. I don't want to see us loaning teens or early twenty-year-olds. We need players that have had some experience in men's football on a regular basis.
Loans on teens tend to work for the loaning club rarely. Whilst there are always success stories, there are a lot more failures. Everyone seems to forget that these are kids moving away from home for the first time, transitioning to living alone and moving away from family and friends. For anyone at any age, that isn't easy but to do it as a teenager or in your early 20s is really tough and then you play in front of an expectant crowd for a team that plays entirely differently from the 23s in a league which is miles more physical.
I was not saying he should start ahead of any of the U21's, just pointing out that his apparent lazy look was just down to his normal body language, and that he has got better in the games he plays. Not sure Liam rates Jarvis that much anyhow, hasn't featured much since he came in. He got a few minutes as sub under Shota and I seem to remember him starting in the Turkley friendly in Antalya but looked like a duck out of water and was soon withdrawn. P.S. I am pretty sure Liam is hoping to keep Malcolm next season, but I guess that will depend on who ends up managing Palace.
This has got all the makings of a tough game for us.Sunderland will still see themselves as having an outside chance of the play offs, albeit their form recently has been fairly poor. I think they'll come at us from the word go and we might struggle to contain them.Hope I'm wrong but it looks like a home win
I have a very good friend who’s good friends with Appletons number 2 who has told me that “My Appleton mate has been asked by Rosenior to do a presentation on how we can finish better, He got sent the drills we do currently and apparently the stuff in training doesn’t replicate the positions we get into during matches, Which explains why we freeze in any promising position“ interesting little insight…
You are probably right they will come at us from the start, if we can see out the first 20 minutes and then start to put pressure on them, then the crowd will start to get edgy, and then we could see us grow into the game.
