Hull City want MK Dons’ Karl Robinson to be their new boss – as Nigel Pearson heads for Leicester City.

The Tigers owners think the 31-year-old, who has impressed at League One level, would fit into Pearson’s shoes despite having more senior rivals for the vacancy.

Robinson has stepped out of Paul Ince’s shadow after working with him at Blackburn Rovers and then MK Dons.

Hull’s Egyptian owners want to run the club on a tight budget and think an *up-and-coming boss will help them to do that in the *Championship.

Am not convinced that Robinson would be the right guy for the job, seems a bit too similar to Parkinson although more successful, would like to see a manager with connections who would stand a good chance in the Championship.

Just had a chat to some local MK Dons fans (I work in MK, they go every week, home and away) and their view is, it would be a massive gamble. One even described him as quite inexperienced and naive.

They're not the sort to say stuff like this because they'd be losing him, although they do say they'd be concerned about who they could get to replace him, and they'd wish him well if he left moving upwards to us, but overall they think we'd be mad. Di Matteo did well here but as one also added, look at how he did when he left. Fair point really.

I'd be ecstatic if we got Di Matteo.

    But we won't.

His assistant coach John Gorman looks a lot more experienced - maybe if we got them as a package, they would be a good team.
Anyone know who MKD have on loan at the moment? would be interesting to see what their links are with the Prem and which clubs.

Just to answer my own question - looks like their loan players are from Spurs, QPR(!) and Sheff Wed. Not that inspiring then!!

    Someone was an idiot.

He took West Brom to the Premier League, started very well, won Manager of the Month for September, beat Arsenal and drew with Man United in October, then the form dipped over the Dec/Jan and he was sacked, probably just because they already had Hodgson lined up.

Indeed, though we didn't get rid of him after a month or so of bad results, we let him build up eighteen months of them first. :emoticon-0120-doh:

More successful than Parky was when we took him? I don't think so, Parky had got Colchester out of League One.

The most important thing to look for in a manager is someone who dresses in a nice smart suit with a skinny tie and has awesome facial hair just like Villas Boas and Mourinho, do any of the people linked with the job match this description? Do they bollocks, we need to have a serious think about our options here boys or we'll be left behind.

You forgot the long wool coat, if they haven't got a wool coat I don't think they should be anywhere near the short-list.

Agreed, although they must wear a pink shirt on match of the day too.

Good point, I also forgot about the cool scarf to go with the coat during the cold winter months, if we can find someone who matches all these criteria then we will be rocking the Champions League in no time at all

John Gorman is an excellent coach. It was he that, along with Glen Hoddle, built the Swindon side that marched into the Premiership.

If we go for Robinson WE MUST TAKE GORMAN AS WELL, otherwise we really are asking for a repeat of the Parkinson disaster.
