Having a great first touch so you can receive the ball in tight spaces isn't what I'm getting at. You can't make a pass (negative or positive) if players aren't available to pass to. You can have the greatest passer in the world with robotic vision but they're not picking out a static marked teammate.
Don't get me wrong. I do appreciate what thiago can do. I dont think he delivers it consistently enough, or what he does out weighs his deficiencies. He's the wrong player, at the wrong time for us. Funny but I'd like to see him play the 6 with bajectic and possibly henderson see if the extra legs of the young boy would help. Edit. I appreciate you arguing your point without losing your ****. I appreciate a good discussion
shots are aimed at a static target passes are aimed at a moving target. I'll send you my bill for consultancy in the morning.
It's all good I've said a few times that I'd have loved Thiago in his prime. What we're seeing now is glimpses of what he used to do consistently. Players regress. It's natural. I still like what I'm seeing but appreciate that we're all different and all see things differently. I love a good discussion too.
That's it, we all have our points of view. Youre one if my favourite posters, happy to discuss and defend your point, happy to take a Poke without getting nasty. Infact we could all do with being abit more jb!
I love watching thisgo. Just think the guy is brilliant. Yes he doesn’t have legs to get around but that’s not his fault now. Can’t help the physical stuff declining. But from midfield he breaks the lines with his passes. It looks and sounds simple but he’ll often play a pass into someone that isn’t the easy option. How many times do our midfielders just pass it sidewards and backwards to each other or the full backs. Thisgo will actually get on the turn and fire it 15 yards down the middle to guy between the defende and midfield and take out 3 players who are now wrong side. Just think he’s a joy to watch. Maybe because personally I just love watching passing football and maybe appreciate that more than someone who would run 40 yards with it in a more box to box role
Totally agree, he's quality. Just doesn't fit in with the robust energetic workhorse type of midfielder we've all come to expect after eight years of Klopp.
I think we miss a Gini more than we do a Tiago. Tiago is undoubtedly the more gifted player but Gini just fitted the team. would have been interesting to see them in the same midfield
all of which is true and on his good days he is a joy to watch but for me he has too many games where he is dreadfully careless with the ball and has the Coutinho trait of seeing a "good" pass and playing it even though there is an oppo player standing in the way . Edit : i'd still pick him for tomorrow if fit because having some control of the ball would be a nice change
I don't think he's ever careless with the ball. He's just trying to make things happen in a rather static team
Guess it’s about risk. Yes coukd just play the simple sidewards/backwards pass to vvd or Robbo hint then how often have we moaned that we are passing it around going no where and too slow? You need players to take risks on the ball. TAA would give the ball away a lot even in top form because he tried risky passes and if 3 or 4 come through then it creates big chances - it’s how he got so many assists. Thiago tries to play the tricker balls to break the lines and get oppo midfielders turned. At times, going to mean gives the ball away and if having a bad game then may end up doing that more often.
