Absolutely no chance of going straight back up, we are terrible ATM,……at best maybe mid table in the championship.
You're just being emotional. No point trying to gauge our chances with the current squad because there will likely be 10-15 outgoing and 5 or so incoming. Most important thing is having a competent manager. Whether that's Selles or not is the debate. I like to think he is, but it's early days.
The scary thing about relegation is the 10,000 drop.in attendances! I cannot blame the 10,000. regulars watching their side in the PL.in deciding to no longer go in the Championship!
It won't be a 10k drop. First game of the season won't be much less than it is now. And if we start well, winning a few games, people will attend.
I definitely don’t think it is guaranteed, but ‘absolutely no chance’ is equally daft. It’ll be tough but worse teams than us have come straight back up as well, we also have the resources, but it’s whether or not SR can avoid catastrofucking up again that matters.
I don't really care about nit-picking. Yeah maybe I'm a few million over, but seeing as KWP and Salisu will go for over 20m it all averages out at about 20m each, probably more.
My main concern when we go down is that we will be one of the favourites for the league so will encounter more games where teams put 10 behind the ball and we have to break them down, and not concede from a set piece they get to lose 1-0 like we have multiple times this season. I think if we are to spend then it pretty much all should go on forward players (especially a striker)
If this list is true (or indeed indicative), then it's a travesty what we are paying KWP!! He's been one of our best two players in the past 2 and a half seasons. Can't be right, surely.
Yeah the first half dozen games will be tough. I think a lot of relegated teams get culture shock and panic when they lose a few. Watford this season sacked their newly-hired manager after something like 8 or 9 games. Now the same guy is smashing it with Luton (although obviously that's because of the great work done by you-know-who).
And Burnley were **** the year before that. The years before that Fulham and Norwich took turns in being ****. All of them came straight back.
Completely agree. We will generate in the hundreds of millions if those players leave. We will also shed in the hundreds of thousands off our wage bill with just Ely, Caballero and Walcott leaving. Let alone the others that will go for fees. Our spending capabilities will blow everyone away. It obviously depends who goes down, but it looks like probably us, Forest and one more. Unless another long established team goes down we will be the financial powerhouse in the division. Sulemana, Alcaraz, Bazunu, Livramento will all be top drawer championship standard players. Just pray we can keep JWP for one promotion push.
Hundreds of millions is a bit of a stretch but I’d be surprised if we didn’t get over £100m when all the outgoings are added up. The question is whether Solak/SR want to take that money back from their investment this season or happy to spend again. By the sounds of it they are happy to spend but we’ll just have to wait and see
That will depend on the manager who takes over. We should pull in £100m+ from player sales so hopefully that will be spent wisely unlike this seasons complete shambles
I have a feeling he might just want to do that. But then I thought the bearded wonder had the club in his DNA. But I think JWP is a true Saints person (despite his dodgy corner kicks!)
