seriously folks a) in past 15 years in Europe and UK banks have been charged to hold money by central banks so simple deposits would not generate that money. only long term holds or money put where it cannot be accessed would generate a return through investment b) there's this annoying thing called tax that people have to pay. After that pedanticness being shown to avoid the central point that a footballer should be able to live quite well without recourse to massive risk or investments.
Its also because he didn't pay the right amount of tax (because he was badly advised according to him).
His outgoing cash flow was more than his incoming cash flow. Spent too much money breaking golf clubs at karaoke parties.
Behind a paywall, but the Athletic has obtained official government emails that show the government interfered in the Saudi takeover of Newcastle Utd FC, as they believed a failed takeover would damage relations with the Saudi government. The whole thing stinks. https://theathletic.com/4375454/2023/04/06/saudi-newcastle-boris-government/
Just confirming what we're all convinced of already. I've said all along that it's a case of sacrificing principles for political pragmatism.

Couldn't sleep so took a 2am walk through the woods in my underwear and flipflops . I remembered hearing there is a meteor shower going on this weekend, although between the trees and the clouds, I didn't see any... But what's really cool at night in the woods here is the sounds. I've lived here over a year now, but still occasionally hearing new frog songs I havent heard before . (At least, I'm assuming every whistling or non-insect chirping or baaa-ing I hear at night is frogs, I don't actually know). Today's new "frog" song almost sounded like construction workers whistling at girls only instead of finishing going down in pitch it finished going up... Second coolest frog sound since the toads I discovered that sound like goats.
