He did make perfect sense, hence I didn't make any comparison between him and Eriksen at all and instead with the player he was brought in as an upgrade for

As for Fernandes, the only thing he creates is penalties - so he'd be a complete waste at Spurs, since we're more likely to get awarded the freedom of Woolwich than a penalty most games

He made perfect sense to you because you believe he was brought in to upgrade on a player that at the time we probably weren't looking to initially upgrade, rather than replacing a player who made it clear he wouldn't be renewing his contract and thus actually needed replacing.

So that's why it doesn't make perfect sense to me and I'd imagine others as most would've seen Lo Celso being signed to take over from Eriksen - not Dele - but he just ended up basically being Harry Winks with a Latin accent. Whereas the player we passed up on currently has 41 goals and 30 assists in 117 Premier League games for Man Utd, the exact type of numbers that would've been ideal for us in replacing Eriksen, instead of the 1 goal and 3 assists in 51 league games we got from Lo Celso, who failed to upgrade nor adequately replace anyone.

Can I ask you, if we were in a metaphorical playground and you had Lo Celso and Bruno lined up and had to choose one of them would you actually pick the Argentinian?

Playground footie? Absolutely go with Lo Celso, since when was the last time you saw a penalty awarded in a playground kickabout?

He makes perfect sense because his game is literally that of Dele's, and let's be real the injury bug was starting to eat Dele alive throughout the 2018-19 season so it's understandable why we would be looking to sign a replacement for him

Add to that Poch switching us to a three-man midfield in pre-season and maintaining that system in the early season (to brilliant results...) he was obviously changing his system, and that system was less reliant on a No10

And this is why Ndombele was such a f'n disaster, because realistically we needed a complete midfield overhaul that summer and instead spunked way too much money on Ndombele when the reality is that a three-man midfield doesn't need a player like Ndombele (or, you know, somebody competent like Dembele) because he's a luxury player when what a three-man midfield needs first and foremost is graft so it needs to be an absolute menace to teams trying to break through, but also have a bloody minded will to retain the ball to run down the clock - and Ndombele simply isn't that, because when defending he's a passenger meaning the other two CMs would have to put in more hard yards than they should, and it has to be said he's also not particularly well attuned to retaining the ball as he's always looking for Hollywood passes or dribbles through the opposition which is only ever going to lose the ball if he fails to hit his target...which was pretty much a guarantee with how poorly our tactical switch was executed, as there was a No Man's Land between midfield and defence

I would have Bruno every day of the week at least he would get to the end of the lunch hour before limping off :emoticon-0102-bigsm

I remember when Bruno was having a poor Euros, somebody commented that's likely how he'd be performing for us

TBH that's likely not far off the mark either, because our midfield couldn't control matches with possession nor could it control games through sheer bloody mindedness due to needing a complete overhaul, so we'd neither be giving him the ball on a plate at regular intervals nor were we likely to grind away until we slipped the ball to him unmarked on the edge of the area in the 89th minute, making opposition defenders' jobs a lot easier than we should have

The only similarity between Dele and Lo Celso is that they’re called professional footballers but of what we saw of Lo Celso, I’d use that term very loosely.

Remind me, who is getting playing time right now?

Also says a lot that Lo Celso is coming back from his hamstring getting detached from the bone, and still gets more playing time than Ndombele too...

He’s had two 1 minute appearances in the last 4 league games and you’re trying to champion him for that? You’re really scraping the barrel on this and I really can’t see why, what has Lo Celso done for you to make you defend him so much?

    22 minutes vs Osasuna
    28 minutes vs Real Sociedad

Those are his last two league games, with 67 minutes in an international friendly between the two

    Just pointing out that
a.) Me stating that Lo Celso gets more game time than Ndombele does in spite LARPing as Long John Silver late last year says how bad Ndombele is
b.) It's not a good idea to give misleading information to the bloke who literally documents how many minutes our loanees are getting this season

No one says Ndombele is good, you’re just building a battle between the two in your head, everyone else can’t stand either player.

Nothing is misleading, Lo Celso has played two 1 minute cameos in his last four league games. That’s factual.

Ally Gold says initial contact with De Zerbi’s reps weren’t positive, no indication he’d be desperate to leave Brighton for us - and who could blame him?

I’d only leave Brighton for a top, top job at the moment and we’re just not that, unfortunately, especially with all the chaos and uncertainty.

Nagelsmann says he won't be making a decision until the summer, and yet Skyte are the latest trying to will him into the Chelsea dugout by the weekend

Always good to see neutral reporting...

De Telegraaf say we have three names on our shortlist, and one of them is Arne Slot

Then go on about compensation instead of, oh I don't know, suggest who the other two might be...

If we got him and started to do well would we be known as "the Slot Machine"?

    I'll get my coat.
