It's like the Hokey Cokey. Trickle down isn't trickling down so we now have levelling up to compensate for the lack of trickling down. Honestly couldn't make it up as nobody would believe it. Bizarre
Slogans like this are massively unhelpful. All parties do it. The minute it was announced people immediately worried it meant levelling down in some areas. See how the ENO is playing out. Plan to move it to Manchester from London as part of levelling up. Those who work for ENO object and threaten strikes. Surprise surprise I suppose. Instead of having a big hype about something, just do it without hype. Levelling up is just about investing in areas. Just invest and be done with it. Let the business leaders in Manchester determine what is the best way to invest and I bet you get better outcomes. Who knows we may end up with a northern economy based manufacturing again and the whole country would benefit.
Labour has little chance with the Quisling Starmer as Leader, a Lisa Nandy / Rebecca Long Bailey ticket would be far better bet imo.
I dont understand the Quisling reference mate. I do think you have named two politicians that might give us a Labour party to get behind though. A few months ago I was in a wine fuelled debate about politicians we want leading our country in the future. These 2 were in the last 3 standing, so to speak. The other was Daisy Cooper.

I certainly dont think he is a labour leader I relate to. I am a born and brought up labour man, but feel I have lost my party. I wont vote for this lot unless they find our shared identity again. With this lad in charge that is improbable in my opinion. The lib dems are the only genuine vote in my opinion. If you want change at least...
That’s a massively misleading headline compared to what he has actually said…not surprising really coming from GB News. To summarise what he said…99.9% of women are exactly that, biologically women. The other 0.1% identify as a different gender. Work to be done but nobody should be rolling back any women’s rights. Let’s not make it into a massively divisive issue as that doesn’t help anyone. Unfortunately there's no group whose activists cause more harm to their own than the trans community. Trying to bully people who are broadly supportive into ever more radical positions on the issue is backfiring spectacularly.
Starmer, was I believe born in South London, one of 4 kids dad a toolmaker, mum a nurse. Passed 11+ and went to a selective grammar school. Then to university, did a law degree and became DPP. So he was a clever sod, did well for himself, his family were Labour and so was he from an early age. I was one of 3 brothers, dad was a draughtsman for Clarke Chapman, he was a T Unionist and Labour Councillor, mum a housewife. I passed the 11+ and went to Jarrow Grammar, then onto university. Brought up Labour i guess. Depending on the majority of the constituency you live in, a vote for the Liberals can often help the tories.
Starmer is named after the founder of the Labour Party, Keir Hardie, that in itself tells you about his families political allegiances
I guess this is how the tories are hoping to con people into voting for them… Green leaflets and no mention of the Conservative Party on them. People have also mentioned that loads of of their MP’s have removed the party from their social media bios too. Wonder how the Green Party feel about this!
Great post mate I dont doubt he is from a labour background at all. I just dont find him a strong labour politician. To be really fair about the whole thing I tend to think political parties have lost their traditional identities over the last 30 years or so. So much so I am not convinced there is a different outcome to be had whether we have conservative or labour for the next 10 years. Lib Dems the same in reality, but I do think a choice of only 2 is not a worthwhile choice anymore. If the Liberals can do well next year, and get close to the conservatives in terms of seats, then it might make for a more balanced debate going forward. Naieve no doubt on my part, but I was fed up with the last Labour government we had, fed up with this current lot beyond words.
As with Felltop I am unable to support Labour under the current control of Starmer, if there is a change I will vote for them but at the moment I am thinking of voting Green not anyone wearing camouflage, and hiding behind smokescreens.
