His Tune hotels didn't get very far. He struck lucky with Air Asia but everything else he's involved with has gone tits-up...
I often wonder where we would be if Bernie and Flav had not made themselves as unpopular as they did with Flav's insistence on meddling and unwillingness to brook any resistance at all from his managers. Anyone for Pellicori? Love to know what the connection was because even Flav could not possibly have failed to see through his dazzling orange glow that the guy was hopeless. We might not have had the two promotions but then we wouldn't also be a basket case of a club due to reckless spending. I suspect we would have got to the promised land eventually and would have stayed. there and, eventually the Mittals would have bought them out. Once they had realised that the 4 year dream was impossible. One thing is for sure. They would have seen through Hughes and Redknapp immediately and wouldn't have touched either of them with a barge pole. I'm not surprised. I've been in the one in the centre of Newcastle underneath the Tyne Bridge. Twice. It is so basic that it deters anyone except backpackers. No food or coffee and tea and you pay extra for just about everything including water except for the bed itself. It did not need to be as cheap as that given its location. Even the Premier Inn 250 yards away charges and gets between £90 and £120 a night and is always full. But the good old Tune you paid between £35 and £40 for the room and just went out to eat and drink. It does not surprise me that our illustrious entrepreneur who could have marketed his hotel to the business and corporate sector chose to do so to backpackers for 1/3 of the profit instead.
Steve. Nice avatar. Seems you're looking forwards and sideways at the same time. Can't decide which is which. Hope you didn't dig into you finacials to help pay for the lobotomy. Actually, very funny though. Nicely done!
It’s pretty much $hit or bust football now. May as well get the kitchen sink out of the new building and throw that at the opposition. A squad like this shouldn’t be in this mess. At worst they should be in mid-table mediocrity, at best pushing the play-offs. From a reasonably good position after the sale of Eze the club management team have royally ****ed up. Hard to see a positive outcome for this season (and positive would be to stay up). Time for the owners to unsettle the nest in the offices I think. Bhatia needs to come up with a plan to change things or it’s hard to see anything but continued decline to the lower leagues. It’s all very sad reading.
The old cliche of 7 cup finals, couldn't be more apt. we all need to stick together (players included), bite our collective tongues and scrape through. We all know we would not be be in the top 6 of league one next season should disaster strike and that's where we finish up. Friday, we need to start on the front foot, try and not concede in the first 5 mins(!) and get behind the team as we have 90% of the time.
The last team you want to be playing in our current form is Preston, masters of strangling games and the dark arts.. .
Another reason we need to go 1 nil up and then PNE PNE! if they score 2 mins in it will be s/housery from them and the fans may turn on the players/GA. Please no.
Thoroughly depressing read from Clive, although the Big Ladybird Book of How To **** Up Your Football Club line did make me chuckle... https://www.fansnetwork.co.uk/footb...5/a-cavalry-charge-played-on-a-kazoo-–-report
More importantly, we are 7/5. The bookies clearly think it's unlikely we are going to lose the remaining fixtures and they still believe we're not for the drop. Obviously that can change! Hope it will change in our favour.
Cheers for that Clive. Cannot argue with any of it. There's not much that us fans can do to halt this decline unfortunately. Surprised he stretched to a '3' for Martin though. Very generous
Clive’s report is the only thing worth reading (this forum excepted) during this awful period. My mates here are almost apologetic when we start talking football, even the Swansea fan I play golf with… Barnstoneworth is the only thing that springs to mind right now.. I wait to be pleasantly surprised… URssss
You're correct. We're now the objects of sympathy even from many opposition fans. What an almighty crash from hero to zero.
