And finished 8th in the league. They started that third season where they finished 5th with three losses in a row and the supporters were screaming for his head.
I was going to start a thread but I’ll ask on here syd Have you heard out about Callum elder going back to Oz? He’s out of contract in a month isn’t he?
Nothing amazing unless you're a marquee player or play for Melbourne City (owned by Man City's lot), so think if anything he'd head to the MLS first.
Totally agree , it’s receive the ball look up play it to another static player . It’s safety for safety sake . Why is it that when poor teams play us and we are dominating possession they get an attack going and play it fast get men forward and look more dangerous than us . There was one first half Ebiowei - and Traore move that the fans loved but all too rare . Our play is Bruce play at his worst , static , stay in your zone and no one- touch , no one - twos , and so little running off the ball gambling on a pass we bang it in the box and hope that’s all , but the forwards are stood still !! Proper attacking coaching is lacking .
It is literally Under 8s stuff. I cannot believe we were not leaving someone up, it usually means 2 will stay with him.
A full pre-season and a summer transfer window to go yet. I suspect Rosie has until Autumn to get his team playing a tune.
They do try to make runs but hardly ever get the pass, because the passer is too slow to see the runner and the forward would be offside. (Seri to Connolly excepted). After a while they stop making the runs as a futile waste of energy. Also what's with the centre backs going up for an attacking corner, which is then taken short and slowly passed back to our keeper? There is so much in our play that is utterly bizarre. The first half against Rotherham was a total bore fest. The game only livened up after the sending off, so 10 minutes entertainment in 90. I'm not surprised Acun is not happy.
It would be interesting to see the stats.... km run, heart rate etc... I suspect its not that high...
I guess we're just Acun's plaything now, wonder how long until he's saying he doesn't like a particular player's performance and tells the club to sell them. Is he the owner or the Director of Football?
On paper the team we started on Saturday should be good enough to compete with anyone in this div. We've been crying out for width all season. I don't know what Allayhar's best position is, but it's not as a winger. Ebiowei is a dud. 2x wingers and a striker who isn't perma-crocked over the summer, please.
It's not to do with 'liking particular players' and play DoF, it's that Rosenior is talking the talk but it's not translated into reality on the pitch. As most are saying, our attacking play is awful, no signs of improvement and the months are now ticking by. It's more to do with how long Acun can put up with Rosenior. I'd guess like a few are saying, it will be Summer window / preseason then 10 or so games. Hopefully massive improvement (in our attacking play) comes and a(nother) change isn't needed.
It's exactly that. It's saying if Acun doesn't like the style of play he should be sacking the manager and bringing someone in he does like. Why wouldn't that extend to particular players? The question stands. Those decisions are typically DoF's remit, not the owner's. The owner is there to put his money in. Remember the uproar when Ehab tried to suggest we were a 4-3-3 club and then the hate for McCann seemingly towing the line? I notice you didn't answer my question above though when you asked what evidence there was of Rosenior's attacking methods being evident.
When it wasn't working, he could have changed things around to have Allayhar in the middle (likely more suited to that), Longman out wide (his best position) and Malcolm. Or Tufan with Allayhar. Options were there, but he seems to stick with 'the process' which again wasn't working. Agree, Malcolm has so far been a big disappointment. I was hoping he'd have a Wilson or Campbell effect, but he's nowhere near them.
Hang on. I asked the first question and you didn't answer it. All you said was " You don't think the goal against Reading was a clear demonstration of Rosenior's philosophy?". So you are seriously saying that ONE specific goal gives a "clear demonstration of Rosenior's philosophy"? That's not an answer, it's one goal. -> I guess we're just Acun's plaything now, wonder how long until he's saying he doesn't like a particular player's performance and tells the club to sell them. Where's this come from? My point is that the issue for Acun is not a particular player, it's whether or not Rosenior is up to it or not. Let's not get into a drawn out debate.
The goal at Reading was down to a swift counter by Slater playing centrally his best position and playing a give and go . Ebiowei was totally surrounded on Saturday because by the time he gets the ball the opposition are back in place . Away he’ll get more space as the home team are obliged to be braver . BUT the pace at which we play lets teams get back if they are organised . Manesh should have swapped with Longman , the central through balls to Longman he couldn’t get to . Last point I like Longman left and dribbling , but how had he got to this level when receiving a pass he can’t cushion it or the defender hits him from behind he doesn’t resist the tackle - he should watch videos of Evandro !! Stick your arse or hips out and brace !! It’s like he’s expecting a bump but not preparing for it - 3 times in 15 mins first half he lost possession this way . !!
