I was listening on the car radio, and Jonathan Pierce and Glen Murray could both see after less than a minute, on their tiny monitor, that Aguerd was onside. The 5 Live studio measured 3 and a half minutes for VAR to make the decision. It really isn’t acceptable to take as long as it did.
Yes 3 and a half minutes for that decision alone, and there were only 3 mins injury time added on for the first half. ???????????
The fact that he only cost the equivalent of a bag of crisps, and has only ever played in China, South Korea and Croatia should perhaps have been a warning sign. Along with the fact, that despite only costing a bag of crisps, absolutely nobody else had shown any interest...
All the scouts should be fired. To have spent so much and none of them to improve such a horrific team is beyond embarrassing. Whatever (or whoever) was the secret sauce behind “the black box” has completely gone.
That was the 13th goal we have conceded from set pieces this season (not including penalties). Only Bournemouth defend set pieces worse than us, having conceded 17 goals. It was also the 12th headed goal we have conceded this season (the most in the league) which might actually point a finger at why we are so **** at defending set pieces. DO WE ACTUALLY HAVE A DEFENSIVE COACH?
Im struggling to think of a Jan purchase who has been much good for any team? Couple of the Chelsea players possibly but we never could have got them My Leeds mates think Rutter is utter dog **** and they spent £45m on him. It is much harder to buy in Jan anyway, especially if you are a team down the bottom, and not spending mega money on attacking players usually ends in signing flops anyway
I think Sulemana will prove to be a good signing, and Alcaraz certainly has the qualities to be so. The only possible misstep (ignoring Bree) was Tall Paul, and I think that’s a style thing really (and he could score loads in the Championship - I don’t think he’s a definite flop).
We've bought players with potential (apart from Lavia, who already looks the real deal). If they'd come in to a settled team with strong characters and real quality, we'd be enjoying watching the likes of Mara and Kamaldeen develop.
It's what I was saying previously - bar Lavia who is a monster, we've bought a bunch of players that (ironically) could all do with a Tella-style loan to a Championship team for a year, and who would come back ten times better as a result. It just turns out that the Championship team is going to be us.
Oh yeah I’m not writing any of our (or other teams) signings off just yet. Was more responding to the “we’ve spent £50m on junk in Jan” chat that was going on by highlighting that no Jan signing for anyone has really done much yet
Oh for a Jose Fonte, Dean Hammond or Jimmy Case, the team definitely lacks leaders and has done for a few seasons now. I do think that ABK could become one but will he stay if we go down?
The irony of it, was that the rule was clarified after the disallowed Gabiadini goal at Wembley, there were three WHU players in an offside position when the cross came in, the scorer wasn't one of the three, the question is whether they were interfering with play, they had possibly dragged our defenders out of position, our take on it was that our defenders got it wrong, but surely they may of had a reason to be where they were?
I hate this ultra high line free kick defending because it only takes one oppo player to time their run well and then they just have the GK to beat. it's lazy and trusts too much to luck and the stats show that it's costing us points too.
Good point some of our "experts" were blaming Baz for being in the wrong place, as I said, he may have been influenced by those off side players.
