In hindsight I would say. Thought he deserved his chance but when the club buys 10 individuals, all probably overpriced and I'm guessing he didn't have much say in them, he had no chance.

Agree. I think he deserved a shot at it. Players and the new owner buying all those players have done him in.

Graham Potter just checked in to the Holiday Inn Express on Filbert Way, Leicester.
Imagine his surprise when he went to the bar for a pint and saw Pochettino already there sipping a campari and soda :cheesy:

What's wrong with these 'big' clubs, there's only so many trophy slots up for grabs and the owners are like spoilt kids chucking a tantrum.
Managers putting their heads into the lions mouth should be very wary, or have a lucrative get out clause.

They all get fully paid up anyway. Mourinho and Conte will have cost Spuds a fortune. Potter will still get about £20m quid. Not bad if you can get it.

A good manager IMO in a ridiculous situation. No cohesion with that Chelsea team, buying stars doesn’t create a team with passion and desire, it’s something mega rich owners can never seem to understand.

Good manager poor club. Despite the pay off I bet he's still gutted.

If he didn't have control over transfers he'll have sat there, at the interview, and said he could work with that system.

It's too easy an excuse to always say the manager was given the wrong players.

I bet Chris Wilder trotted that one out at Boro.

Very true, PSG have tried it for ages now but just chucking loads of money around for good players rarely works.

He should never have taken the job.

No issue with a manager not having "control" over transfers, but you have to then give him a chance. He took on a squad that had stopped playing for Tuchel, then his employers bought the opposite to what he needed and they sacked him when it didn't work out

Potter struggled to handle the situation there. It is a ridiculous situation but all of his talk about mental health and death threats a few weeks ago was alarming. He doesn't know how to mould those players into a team or how to manage superstars.

That being said, I think he's a superb manager who will be a good appointment for pretty much anyone outside of the top 4. He'd be silly to jump into a job now with a team who could be relegated. He'll have his pick of good jobs.

It was the right time for him to take on a big team but it seems that Chelsea was a bad choice all round. Don't think people will be lining up to take that job it'll be interesting to see who they get next.

To be fair to Potter (and Tuchel, Conte etc)......... Would anyone, willingly go to Chelsea if they weren't paying the money that they are?
Basket case of a club imo.

Potch or the Brighton manager would be my guess. Conte outside chance. Kompany imo could walk in there tomorrow.

imo, Chelsea sat in the bottom half of the Premier leauge is simply unacceptable for the higher ups. Potter has won nothing and that's how the players will doubt him no less. Good manager though.
