I've got a CD by Dave Gibb " feeling good looking better " which I picked up after seeing him at a local folk festival years ago, the track privateer is a favourite of mine
Wow! he is a personal friend of mine. He is a lifelong Motherwell fan which I mocked until I found out that the club is owned by the fans. Respect.
They've been off touring in Europe. The set includes anywhere between 9 and 11 songs from the yet to be released album and has been a bit of a disappointment to those wanting a night of the 'hits' (such as the boys have had). We're off to see them in Southend on Saturday, the second night of the tour. It's April 1st, so I'm hoping for a performance of the lesser heard and spotted White Rabbit. It's a fave of mine and gets all too few appearances these days...but did make an unscheduled appearance in Milan on the current tour. Then, it's off to the 'Vive Le Rock Awards 2023' to see the one-off reformation (minus the departed Stiv Bators) of The Lords of The New Church. Bators' friend Michael Monroe is on vocals with Brian James, Dave Tregana and Terry Chimes behind the kit. Hopefully it'll be a long set, as the other acts include The Cockney Rejects and yet another performance by Neville Staples...and I could well be in the bar most of the night. A week and a bit later, it's the end of the Damned tour at Brighton and Ally Pally (twice). So,quite the full itinerary in April. May's still a bit thin, apart from the Dead Kennedys but it's sure to pick up.
Working with a yoof who has an appreciation of music , he directed me to The Lathems and in return I gave him Rage Against The Machine Killing in the name of and Gil Scott Heron The Revolution will Not Be Televised, I recieved the ultimate accolade this morning of " you're not such an old git " and he followed it up with a decent cup of tea My work here is done
Off to Saaaarfend tomorrow to see the boys current line up for the first time since October 2019. Three and a half years must be, by some distance, the longest gap between gigs (even if you count the reunion gigs, it's 3 years and a personal record). We're staying over (in a Wetherspoons!) but with the ****ing dreadful weather and the fact that we have to be up and out by 9.30, so that Mrs B can go the ABBA Experience thingy, I'm only looking forward to this... ...ABSOLUTELY ****ING HUGELY! This is the stuff that makes being alive worthwhile. I cannot wait. "Ladies and Gentlemen, How do....?"
I thought that May seemed a bit light. I'd forgottern this... please log in to view this image Some good stuff in that line up and a very decent festival. I met a couple at The SKids who are attending the festival and they've booked my mates' band 48 Thrills to play her 60th birthday, sometime in August, somewhere in SE London....I can't hold my booze anymore.
I think that in the time that I have been posting here, my favourites have been well documented. I think that I have also shown myself to have a quite diverse appreciation of musical genres. Currently I have got stuck in a very middle of the road 70s radio twoish vibe, mainly caused by finding another case of 45s at my late parents house, many of which I recall from the radio my mum used to have on in the mornings, but didn't recall her owing as many of the records as she did! Here a just a few of the them.
