Tbf, it sounds like the Feds are spitting feathers that those three federal charges that could stick, lead to a political ban, and possibly even jail time* are being usurped with this Southern District stuff that, in reality, could have been done in the months after he was kicked out of the presidency. Of those three federal cases, the Georgia election scam is possibly even bigger than the insurrection (or inserection, if you're terminally thick). The top secret file malarkey will lead to nothing more than a slap on the wrist, especially as Biden, Dubya, and Obama have all done it themselves, albeit they never hid documents explicitly after they'd been asked to return them. That said, they've moved at such a glacial rate themselves that they can't be surprised that the SD has jumped the gun - the Republican primaries start in February next year, and realistically any trial would have to be over by the time they start, and it's pretty obvious that on the SD charges Trump and his lawyers will understandably try and drag the pre-trial process out until they can claim the election cycle has started, and then they can claim barley until it's over (or another four years if Trump were to somehow get elected). It's more difficult to delay the federal charges (though as said, it's unlikely they'll throw the secret document one at him anyway). * He'll never go to prison - Biden or whoever is president would do a deal to pardon him so that he couldn't stand, and as with Nixon, much guff will be spouted about how it's all about US unity, togetherness, moving forward and motherhood and apple pie.
