Good Morning. It's Wednesday 29th March, and here are the latest headlines from Elland Road

At some point I want to return to Spain - Orta

Victor Orta is eyeing a return to the La Liga, at some point in the Medium future. The flamboyant Sporting Director arrived in West Yorkshire shortly after Andrea Radrizzani took charge of Leeds in early 2017 and the pair have a close working relationship. It's fair to say the 44yo wears his heart on his sleeve, which hasn't always endeared him to the Leeds Utd faithful.

With an expected takeover in the not too distant future, Orta has been discussing his options with Savilla journalist Alonso Rivero, about a return to the Spanish top flight, in particular, a reunion with Ramón Rodríguez Verdejo, commonly known as Monchi, the Technical Director at the Ciudad Deportiva Stadium.

“Being Monchi’s successor, in any team, I don’t know if it’s something I’m prepared for, but obviously at some point I want to return to Spain.” “I feel very selfish. I want my son’s grandparents to spend more time with him, even though he has been there for a long time, there are cultural differences that I find difficult, the weather thing, which helps. You get here and it’s 20 degrees. My home is Spain and I will have to return. I don’t know what as, if at the club or doing other things, but in the medium term I want to return because I need it personally.”

Adams season over after undergoing surgery

Tyler Adams season is all but over, after undergoing surgery in what is believed to be a grade three hamstring tear, which he sustained in training. The 24yo has had a solid start to his Elland Road career since joining from RB Leipzig last Summer for £20m. He is one of Leeds best passers of the ball with an 82.4% success rate, and has won 143 duels, and 199 recoveries in 2157 minutes of game time.

Leeds can fall back on USA teammate Weston McKennie, who is more than capable of adopting the defensive midfield role, but needs to step up to the plate if he is going to match Adams impressive stats. Leeds have not commented on how long Adams will be sidelined for, but with less than two months (60 days) between now and the visit of Spurs, it's unlikely he'll recover in time.

Dan James on fire for Wales

Dan James produced a man-of-the-match performance for Wales last night, as Rob Page's side ran out 1-0 winners over Latvia. The 25yo has struggled for game time this season, with 373 minutes of action, since signing a season long loan with Fulham on Transfer Deadline Day Last September.

Media reports labelled him as 'unplayable', and that his electrifying pace terrified the Latvian defence. Many Leeds fans will still see the £25m Leeds forked out for him, to be a costly mistake. The Whites are already inundated with wingers, and although with his pace, he offers something different, a return to the ER starting line up next season is a long way off.

If Adams is out for weeks then thats gutting. Even though I thought the Dan James addition was pointless and a waste of money I’m really pleased he had a good game for the Welsh team. Headlines like unplayable will keep his value if we decide to sell in the summer. It doesn’t get away from the fact that he cannot get a kick for Fulham and sits on the bench. Whoever is in charge next season needs to have a plan for Dan James. If we keep what’s his role, if we sell how much will we get. He ain’t a striker but is he a winger with end product or can he be made into a wing back?

Latvia ranked 133 in the world.

    Thats about his level.

If he is unplayable against the likes of France, Argentina even England then I'll sit up and take notice.

Apologies for bringing this up on the footy thread, but I'd like to send my condolences to OLOF and the laddettes after hearing of the sudden passing of one of their idols, Miss Lilly Savage. upload_2023-3-29_10-49-2.jpeg :)

That doesn't mean that he won't miss more games if the FA deem the issue serious enough to warrant an extended ban, it's just means that he is not appealing the red card. Quote below taken from https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/65116229

"I have accepted the three-match ban for my red card, I have spoken to Chris Kavanagh to apologise, and I have volunteered to accept a club fine.

"I now want to do what I can to put this incident behind me and get back to helping my team-mates on the pitch as soon as possible."

In addition to an improper conduct charge for allegedly throwing a water bottle in the direction of the assistant referee, Fulham boss Silva has also been charged with misconduct for comments he made following the FA Cup defeat.

The FA alleges his post-match comments "constitute improper conduct, in that they imply bias and/or question the integrity of the match official, and/or bring the game into disrepute".

Fulham also face a further charge of failing to control their players at Old Trafford.

Mitrovic would typically face a three-match suspension for a straight red card for violent conduct, however, that ban can be extended depending on the circumstances.
