Heat pumps work, cousin in Scotland has one costs next to nothing to run ... house was insulated heat pump fitted and unless about -3c outside very rarely needed! Electric cars wonderful .. but batteries damaging in manufacture flying would love to see all aero planes suspended from helium balloons propelled by the passengers pedalling in shifts .... to generate electric to drive the propellors ....

Back in the day prior to my exit there were promises made after the discovery of North Sea oil and gas that claimed all energy would be flowing out of the pipes and into house for free. The books would fill up with money brought in by selling any excess to foreign countries yet to be determined and all would be bright and sunny for eternity. Forgive my cynicism but I believe what actually happened was that all the energy companies were sold off to foreigners and now you pay the price not just for the stupidity of politicians for allowing a fire sale of your resources, but giving you a dependence on Russian oil and gas. Allowing unfettered immigration to supposedly give you a cultural mix that would only improve the standard of being British which actually has created hate filled ghettos just waiting for the opportunity to bite you in the arse. The various police forces across the country are supposed to protect the community but apparently that doesn't count when it comes down to the Pakistani and Bangladeshi communities who believe they have the right to abuse young women to their hearts content and hide behind the fact that it is O.K. where they come from. Hearing a police chief saying that he didn't take any action because he knew all the ethnicities of the guilty but couldn't face the proposition of being called a racist if he charged any of them is not the thin end of the wedge it's actually the end of it. I watched a football match last season where a Muslim player was allowed a time-out to break the Ramadan fast at sundown, and I was appalled and disgusted at the league for allowing such a visible show of religion raising it's head where there is no place for it. Please go ahead and follow the differences in your religion and if it clashes with your work then take a day off to do your stuff in private and not before the T.V. cameras. This pandering to everything non-British is getting out of hand and will take the country into dark corners if it is allowed to continue unabated. Try visiting the home countries of the pandered ethnicities and see how long you will get away with displaying signs of your religion in public and if Iran is full then try Afghanistan.
