Rather an overgeneralization Duggie - Germany has the second largest foreign born population Worldwide only exceeded by the USA. But apparently ''everyone wants to go to the UK '' The main difference between here and the UK. is that Germany has an effective registration system so that they know exactly how many immigrants there are and their origins. Britain doesn't have this and so when some loon comes out with the headline that thousands are arriving every day people believe it. It is true that language is a major magnet in the UK - because English is such an important World language and so many people can understand it, and people may have a tendency to move to a place where they understand the language. Very few people speak German when they arrive here yet still Germany has a much larger immigrant population than the UK and far more refugees.

Naughty naughty Tories. A couple of years ago they tried this on up here - MSP Oliver Mundell was reported for doing the same thing. The Electoral Commission took him to task over it - and ordered him to stop. It seems the word didn't spread, so maybe another report is required.
