Marco Silva is also a massive twat. His touchline behaviour is regularly appalling. So it's no wonder his player verbally and physically attacks the referee when Silva had a go at him on the touchline. Big bans incoming for the pair of them I think.
Fulham let themselves down there, and will be punished, but how the hell are Utd, and other “big” teams, still getting away with surrounding the referee at crucial moments in the game? I thought the refs were cracking down on this sort of behaviour, as seen by the Lemina second yellow at SMS. I think the reason given for Lemina’s second yellow was because he ran aggressively towards the referee, yet I am seeing players do that in every game. Inconsistency.
If it was a 4 match ban, Leeds would be added to Bmouth, West Ham and Everton. From memory, Ronaldo got a 5 match ban a while back from the Spanish FA. I think 12 is the maximum, but it won't be that many. Prutton got 10, and what Mitrovic did wasn't as bad as Prutton.
Mitrovic is good but it's Palhinha who makes them tick. At least he can't lose his rag against one of our rivals now.
TBH it wasn't far off what Prutton did all in all. The physical contact was obviously not as bad, but then he got right in the referee's face after being sent off and had to be restrained several times. Add in refusal to leave the field of play and it adds up.
Yet Fernándes gets sweet fa when he constantly nags the ref. I hope Brighton stuff United by a dodgy penalty in the semi!
So long as it isn't Manchester United!! Having said that Sheffield United v Brighton would be a dream final!!
Who here is old enough to remember season 1969-1970.when Leeds were imperious but won nothing? Anyone think Manchester City might repeat that feat given the toughness of their route to.a CL.final, playing catch-up in the PL, and perhaps Sheffield United proving to be a harder nut to crack than many PL sides City have faced thus far? Just like Leeds back then, City are arguably the best side in the PL, but just like Leeds they might just run out of energy and "lady luck" deserts them!
Not old enough for that one, but City will pick apart Sheffield United, no issues. It's the final against Brighton or MU that will be the test for that competition. Unless Arsenal fall apart, they're not winning the PL, and as you say, the CL looks daunting, but then so do Manchester City.
Really surprised that 9 man Fulham didn't win away to Utd. Surely it was better for them to lose 2 players as it was a free hit, for you know, stuff.
I’m guessing that Pep wants the CL more than anything this season, as he hasn’t won it with City, or indeed since he left Barça.
I agree that more yellows should be issued but no one's gone as far as Mitrovic went. He just saw the red mist and lost it. Yes, a few United players did surround the referee after Willian handballed yesterday but I didn't see anyone get in his face or get aggressive with him. Mitrovic on the other hand, physically assaulted the referee (doesn't matter how minor), and verbally abused him. He will rightly get charged with violent conduct and improper conduct by bringing the game into disrepute and could well be banned for the rest of the season.
"The FA has claimed that the standard punishment for violent conduct is clearly insufficient for Mitrovic". I suspect Mitrovic will be getting an extra long summer holiday.
FA are clearly furious at what happened. Fulham going to made an example of I suspect. I suspect Wolves will be in hot water over what happened in their game too.
