Having just seen Conte's rant my immediate reaction was to think well done for speaking out over the pathetic performance of the players and well done for blaming the board of Spurs for their part in the state of play.

Then on reflection of some 2 minutes I had other thoughts. Antonio if these players are lacking in fight and just coasting through games then why are you picking them every week. You have had alternatives on the bench, more alternatives than I think any Spurs manager has had in recent years. In the brief time we saw Spence we saw commitment and a desire to succeed, but you never gave hin a chance. In January in came Danjuma and in the brief minutes you played him he scored and looked committed, why didn't you pick him? Bryan Gil the same, full of effort and excitement and you send him off on loan back to Spain where he can learn nothing of the PL. Bergwjin always showed commitment and you never gave him time either. Perisic failed over and over and you kept picking him. Davies has been there all the time and finally it dawns that he can play as a wing back, finally. Sessegnon had to get injured to be dropped. There is enough there to ask the question Antonio why did you not make changes if you saw what you say you saw? Your personal losses and illness is a legitimate excuse and I accept that but now you come back and rant about everyone at the club both players and board the questions looms large. YOU WERE THE MANAGER WHY DIDN'T YOU MAKE THE CHANGES?

I hadn't read your post before I responded to Conte's rant.
I realised I have repeated much of what you had already posted. We are often on different sides of the argument but not now it seems.

There was never this much dissecting of tactics back in the day because most of it is a heap of numerical dogshit

All the social media homemade experts and there XG PG ABC bollocks makes them always put the blame on systems

They have no understanding of heart and soul when it comes to battle

We are a weak club mentally and Levy has bad energy for footballing success and the pores of THFC are infested with it hence why even great leaders of men like Jose and Conte have got no chance.

I'd question whether either of them are great leaders of men. They are always in and out of clubs quite quickly because frankly their leadership style gets found out. They are both huge egos who can initially excite players and motivate them but in both cases I think there methods don't last. Players see through them in the end. They both have playing systems and tactics that have worked for them in there careers, but they are not long lasting and they are not flexible. It's like a flashy Vauxhall it all looks fine when it's new but underneath it's a pile of crap and if you keep it too long you will find that out.

DH and Spurf between them have pretty much summed it up for me <applause>

There is clearly a credible reason not to have publicly chastised players for lack of commitment / effort over this season. But that is only as long as he has left those players and the squad in general of those feelings previously, even repeatedly.

But it looks like he's waited 7 months to go public without holding anyone to account internally over that time.

Personally I think his mismanagement of the squad, in relation to his exclusion and eviction of certain individuals, his repeated playing of players out of form / position or just plain useless and his appalling use of subs shows the biggest problem is the coach himself.

I think the damage is done for this season and unfortunately probably has confirmed the departure of Kane and Son, so best act sooner rather than later.

I hope the fact that Conte is still in post this morning doesn’t suggest Levy is going to allow Conte to see out his contract purely because it will be cheaper.

Conte was correct but he’s more at fault for picking these so-called players who lack desire and for his appalling decision making.

What is it with our managers that gives them a predisposition to speak out via the media? Redknapp, Poch and now Conte.

Such discussions should be kept out of the media. Conte is making it very toxic and this will likely affect the recruitment of the next manager because quite frankly, who would want to manage spurs?

One answer would be to get Harry Redknapp back until the end of the season. I'm sure he would be delighted to work with our current squad.

In the context of what we are talking about they have proven themselves to be great leaders of men…you can’t really question that and their achievements prove that.

Their tactics also have proven to be successful. This is the thing…their tactics have advantages too…it’s their chosen tactic full of positive outcomes…It is absurd to suggest that their football tactics don’t have advantages. Yesterday we were 4 on 3 due to the quick break that our tactic encourages…after that it’s up to the players and their mentality and expertise in that situation.

We’ve had the super dupa free flowing sexy football under Poch whilst some of our best positions were filled with players at their very best…still we won **** all.

Often on here I have heard yourself amongst others, rightly so btw, state that we don’t know what goes on or is said in the background so we shouldn’t make too much of a judgement etc. well Conte is the background and he said what many think…yet that is being ignored? Everyone goes full VAR referee with their observations when it comes to Levy and some of the players.

its all about ENIC, Levy and a club full of weak mentalities spanning from the very top down to parts of the fan base...take it from the man behind the scenes who spoke up yesterday

As I said their methods work short term and yes they get results. of course you can't deny that BUT comapare their achievments to Fergusson, Stein, Clough, Shankly, Robson, ***an, Busby and the difference is how short term there tenure at clubs are. They can't build a lasting legacy at ONE club they have to move on.
Clearly the modern game is different and it's interesting that only one of the managers I can think of as examples is from the modern era. All of those other managers operated in the 1970's so maybe it's just the way football is nowadays. Both of them have thrown players under the bus and that's not great management in any field.

So let me ask you this - are you happy with his management of the team? Take aside issues that I know that you have with player recruitment etc. and just looking at how he sets the team up, the players he picks, his in game management and general attitude to the club and the fans.

I think personally, he and he alone is responsible for the decisons made on all of the above and he has been found wanting on numerous occasions. I know that not all the players are at the level that he would like, but he should still have been able to get more out of the resources at his disposal than he has.

This great leader of men has never got a team beyond the quarter finals of the champions league, only won a single knock out tie in that competition as a manager.
Won the league with Chelsea when they had no Europe to contend with, the following season he papered over the cracks by winning the cup, don't get me wrong I am not knocking those achievements we would have loved to have won the cup. But the facts are that we had a chance this year with favourable draws and we blew it and he was very much part of that.

His approach and tactics are out of date and we have been found out so many times now thats its becoming embarassing.

There is no doubt some of what he said is very true, but he is currently as culpable as anyone.

I disagree. I got crucified for saying it a few months ago but I'll happily say it again: Arsenal winning the league would be tremendous for us. It will expose the notion that you can't win it without spending billions as a complete lie - a lie that both Levy and Conte have cowered behind all season.

It will teach us and others (Chelsea, Everton etc.) that the path to success is to settle on a vision and pursue it with a relentless strategic consistency. Arsenal and Liverpool are the only two sides who have done this in recent seasons who are comparable to us financially and if Arsenal do win the big prize, their rewards for doing so will make a mockery of the haphazard, chaotic series of absurd decisions we've witnessed over the past four years.

Arsenal appointed "Pep's cone boy" barely a month after we sacked Poch. Look where they are and look where we are.

If they win it, Levy has nowhere left to hide.

I feel too many fans are making this a binary issue where it is either Conte OR the owners.

I think Dona, myself and quite a few others are saying: It is BOTH.

    They both have to go.

I think a sample of a decade certainly shows "consistency", especially as you yourself categorised that decade as "one of the hardest to be competitive" in your own argument.

Getting two in a row right is 100% an indication of consistency. Would you argue that the more managers, the better? Are Watford therefore the benchmark of consistency in the modern era? Fewer managers indicates better strategy, and if that strategy extends across a period of a decade or more, it shows consistency from top to bottom.

Brighton had just been promoted to the Championship a decade ago. Brentford were in League One. Many predicted they would collapse when Villa poached Smith, but they stuck to their overarching vision with consistency and appointed Frank who has improved them further.

It's certainly a good thing Brighton don't use your frame of reference of comparing present status with historical achievements, or they'd still have Chris Hughton in charge and would be fighting relegation every year, sometimes unsuccessfully. But then again, that wouldn't matter would it, as historically they'd never been in the PL anyway, so why should it matter?

Your main criterion for supporting the owners is "whether they have the strategy right, not whether they make mistakes implementing it". How do you measure success then? It seems an impossible dream. There can be no accountability, no deliverables, no targets, no goals, no responsibility, because at the end of the day as long as the strategy sounds right on paper and in pre-season interviews with the chairman, if it isn't realised in practice, well...that can't be helped as "everyone does that".

The chances of us being relegated disappeared approximately 17 years ago under BMJ. You laud that accomplishment as if it happened recently.

I'd be more than happy with us finishing 5th, as long as the football is entertaining and we compete (and win) the minor trophies more often than once every two decades. And I know plenty of fans who agree.

What have the current owners achieved in their 20 years? They have taken a basket case financially and turned them into the most profitable club in the PL. They have invested the ever increasing profits into the club. prodced some of the finest infrastructure in the world. Have spent an increasing ampout on players each season. So where have they failed? Clearly picking managers is the major issue. Jol, Redknapp, Poch. OK the rest Oh dear! They have employed a football director to overcome their own shortcomings in buying players. They have imp[roved our league standings from mid table to top six. Apart from trophies which is a lottery unless you outspend everyone else they have not failed at all. It's fair to compare us NOW with Liverpool and Arsenal but we wouldn't be able to if it was not for the improvments ENIC have made. We are still the outsider of the 6 but I see signs that they are going to change that and the first step was income which is being addressed.

If you want to chuck that up for the complete unknown of new owners then you deserve what you get and nobody knows what that will be, but if it's along the lines of City or NUFC then I will transfer my football aleigence elsewhere.
