Some people like to stand up for Levy & ENIC rather than standing up for Tottenham Hotspur Football Club. Tottenham Independent Traders Ltd is nothing but a London entertainment venue these days, but the entertainment does not come from the football side of the operation. Conte was bang on the money with what he said and I applaud him having the balls to come out and say it. Levy has slowly killed Spurs, there used to be a football club over there.
I had seen the Conte melt down in written form but I've now seen it in it's full glory, have I just witnessed a football managers " death by cop" , all my years of following Spurs this takes the biscuit, he has told the truth that so many managers have hinted at in the past ,will he make it to our next game ? I'm not so sure At one point in the rant I was waiting for the comedy hook to pull him of camera
They’ve given us world class facilities and got us competing for European slots every year. They took over in 2000 In an era where it’s a lot harder to win things due to the financial gulf and they’ve managed to get us to as many finals as we did in the 22 years before they took. Is it their fault we’ve not been quite able to get over that line? Yes, clearly mistakes have been made but that will be the same at every club. Conte has sucked the life out of the fan base this season and that is where the problem lies this time. I’ve seen some terrible results over the years but have never come away as dejected or disheartened as I did after the Milan game.
It still is a football club mate, one which has had its best ever run of league positions, got to the Champions League final for the first time and which is selling out the best stadium in the country. What definition of football club doesn't apply?
The real issue in Tottenham fans is the fact Arsenal are always trumping them , taking the piss out of them at work n stuff.
Conte absolves himself of all his screw ups. No one makes him pick massively out of form players week in week out (Sessegnon, Royal, Son, Kulusevski) while others did not /do not get a look in (Sarr, Skipp, Bissouma, Spence, Gil). No one made him demand we spend £60m on Richarlison ffs meaning we have to play Dier week in week. No one made him leave a striker on the bench and sub on Sanchez in the 82nd minute in the CL when we were 1 down. No one makes him play unwatchable football. I have been very critical of Levy since 2019. I have said Levy should have no say in choosing a manager cos he has a terrible record at it. The stuff above is all on Conte
It's kinda true though... I mean if Arsenal were doing worse you'd be happy with where you are. I just think things are better than you think really, but the negativity around the club its fans is food for **** stirring journalists.
Nah...the football is awful. We've gone from only playing well in the second half to only well every 4 or 5 games. Since mid October we have played 26 games in all competitions. We've won 11, including West ham, Leeds, Forest, Bournemouth and Palace (all fighting relegation) Portsmouth and Preston NE (league 1 and championship clubs in fa cup). We drew 4 and lost 11. The record is: P26 W11 D4 L11 F37 A36 PTS 37 That equates to around 55 pts for a season. That includes 3 games against lower league clubs. Remove them and it's P23 W9 D4 L10 F32 A35 PTS 31 That equates to around 51 pts for a season that's woeful by anyone's standards.
Some of what Conte said may have some elements of truth and also act as a kick up the arse to multiple people at the club but equally it’s also very ironic to basically say some aren’t pulling their weight when neither is he. The tactics this season have been shambolic. It’s clear to anyone our defence isn’t the best so why play a style of football that’s heavily reliant on sitting back? We never done as such last season under him so don’t understand what’s changed. Squad management and subs are the worst I think I’ve ever seen from a Spurs manager. The fact he has 5 to choose from too and a big squad makes it that bit more damning. He says some aren’t pulling their weight, I’m happy to believe him even if effort isn’t really something I’d criticise from certain players, just their quality. But why not change them then? The likes of Spence, Sarr, Skipp (until injuries), Gil and Danjuma have barely had a sniff, Devine’s considered one of the best talents in England let alone Spurs yet has played a measly 5 or so mins in one cup game. If like all of us he’s pissed with some of our CBs, why not give ***an-Walcott and/ or Lyons-Foster run outs? They’ll almost certainly make mistakes themselves but if he’s making the decision to play youth over experience because the latter isn’t cutting it, fans would massively have his back and that also puts added pressure on the board to go out and get an adequate CB or two. I wouldn’t be surprised if we hear he’s gone today anyway to be honest, I don’t see the board not acting after those comments because they really don’t want or need further negative press after the way a solid portion of fans are with them at the moment. Conte’s clearly in “**** it” mode, he’s got a few months left on his deal so he’ll either coast til the end or take that payoff now and head back to Italy to see his family, he’s probably trying to engineer that truth be told.
