    As I get ever closer to the end I find myself playing this more and more ...

    ... I hope to completely understand the meaning of it all before that day comes.

    Johnny Cash was always a Christian but recorded more songs like this towards the end.

    Whatever you think about judgement and redemption I'm sure at least Marcus can appreciate the sparsity of the guitar playing on this track. It becomes expansive and joyous but always comes back to that repetitive ominous riff ...

    ... as if he's telling us that, no matter how clever and important we think ourselves, we'll all return to ashes and dust.

    Went to see him at the arena, must have been about 98ish. It was about 50 quid a ticket even back then but he was quality. One of those people I wanted to see live in the flesh.

    Seen him at the Arena in 2000 and 2004, I get it that he's not for all but it was an incredible experience for me.

    It was similar for me. Don't know why, just had to get a ticket and see him. At the time there was a load of us going to gigs to see Oasis, and the Indie bands of the time but when he popped up at the arena there ended up being about 5 of us going through. Glad I did tbf, it was a great gig. The front half of the arena was seats which was a bit odd for us because we had been to see a few bands there and it was always rocking down the front but he had it seated off.

    @Montysoptician
    @Oliver's Army

    Please read till the end before you dismiss the next paragraph!!

    I've never been a Dylan fan, always thought he had a dreary, nasally, whiney voice. I was recommended to listen to the "Blood On The Tracks" album and hated it.

    @Montysoptician posted a song the other night..."Positively 4th Street" which I absolutely loved, and have lost count of how many times i've played it since....then tonight, @Oliver's Army posts "Hurricane".
    Absolutely brilliant.

    Maybe I need to listen to a different Dylan "era", but the two songs you have posted I have really loved.

    One of the concerts at the Arena we were standing in the queue to get in and my daughter rang my wife and asked her if she fancied going to the cinema to watch Harry Potter. My wife answered to the disdain of everyone within earshot, “I would love to see Harry Potter but your Dad’s making me go to see Bob Dylan”. Some of the looks we got were comical :emoticon-0102-bigsm

    Only downside to that song is its a true story.

    I won't pretend to be a massive Dylan fan and know every song inside and out, he was well before my time in terms of when I got into music. But loads of the bands and music I love find their way back to him, his lyrics are brilliant and tell the story of the time.

    I'm more of an early 90s/Stone Roses/Happy Mondays/Smiths type of music but their stuff can be traced back to that era.

    Love The Smiths.

    My music of choice is rock/hard rock/metal....or whatever its called at any given time.
    The band I've got the most albums by though.....The Smiths.
