It's still doable. Not likely, but doable. The 8 in 6 under Selles is basically the pace we need to survive: it would get us to 36 points, and I'd imagine that 37 is the maximum we'd need. We're still extremely limp going forward, even if that seems like an odd thing to say after a match where we scored three, but we've shown just enough to stay in it, if only just.
I cant stand spurs , but that is a horrendous **** up from VAR and literally a joke . You can't even challenge for the ball anymore. I'd be fuming !
When we had the free kick, that Prowsey hit just over the bar, did anyone else notice how he tried to drag the referee closer to the goal, as he bent down to mark the spot?
Well that was a heck of a game, would have been phenomenal in the ground. Crazy injuries that will give Selles plenty to think about but his record right now is bloody good. Credit to him our points are coming at a better rate than they have for months and months. I fully expected JWP to miss that pen. Heart was in my mouth but what a hit! Great point.
Jeeze, it's funny having been at the game and then coming back to read the posts. Just so I have it straight - We are spineless and have no character - there was character to spare in today's performance. Heads didn't drop once at 3-1 (unlike Tom and the rest who left the ground. I was shaking my head at all of them, we were on top most of that game). Adams is a statue - he was excellent whilst he was on the pitch. Held the ball up brilliantly, was strong, and scored his deserved goal. Selles is a fraud - all his subs made a difference and there was no way we would have deserved a loss. Elyounoussi is the worst player on the planet - sometimes I would agree, but he was genuinely (along with Theo) our best player in the first half. The only one coming into space to receive the ball, and trying to be progressive. Thought AMN did what he could at CB, but Kane was smart and got between him and KWP for his goal. If they stood on one another's shoulders they'd be about Kane's height. All of which annoys me even more that we did the Jones thing. Ugh. I thought Sulemana had a really threatening cameo, including a brilliant run where he drifted past the Spurs midfield. Mara battled well and caused problems. I love Alcaraz, and once again he showed what a talent he's going to be. Lavia superb as usual. But Theo. Booed throughout by the Spurs fans. Man of the match. Rolled back the years. It was lovely to see.
I'll hold my hands up. I can can count on one hand the number of times I've ever done it. I just felt there was no chance in hell we were coming back from that. I know we were playing well but we had one fit CB on the pitch and I thought that would knock the stuffing out of the players. Of course I heard the cheers from Theo's goal as I was walking away from the stadium and I thought "****, Saints are going to come back here aren't they".
Just got back. **** Southampton traffic. Thoroughly enjoyed the game. Though quality may well be missing from our side, today we showed some guts and a willingness to put in a shift with heart. A point from 3-1 down? I'll take it with both hands
That is amazing and those of us who kept the faith with him, despite being disappointed again and again, always hoped that one day he would make the difference we desperately need. Along with the team he can feel very proud of today's performance once we got going. Just need to hope that is the bar we've now set for the rest of the season. It's hang on to your hats time, again!
Conte took a massive swipe at Levy in his post match comments. I'd be surprised if he's still in charge after the international break.
I`ve just got back - met Mrs AberdeenSaint for a scran after the game - went to Beity restaurant - who was there but Moi and his family!
I was in the Chapel, and there were a few who left after Spuds third goal. Its f$$$ing embarrassing to see fans give up on their team like that.
Back a couple of hours ago - traffic was horrendous. Thought we were good for the point. We never gave up. Two goals from open play and three in one game is an improvement. Conceding three with a makeshift centre of defence (I know Salisu is a centre back, but he didn't expect to come on) against Kane and Co isn't unexpected. Thought there were moments of vintage Walcott. Love his passion for the club. Did anyone else notice after their 3rd that before we kicked off, JWP brought the whole team into a huddle? That is captaincy. MOTM for me was Walcott. He was an irritation to Spurs the whole game. Though I don't think anyone was off today. Even Eli played well. He was subbed just at the right time too - not because he was bad, but we needed something different at that time in the game. JWP, balls of steal to take that and score after Leicester. I actually half joked at the time, that I hoped VAR said it was outside and gave us a free kick instead. Selles pretty much spot on again - we wouldn't have got that from a NJ team We are still down there but not out. EDIT: Reading the thread once I was home (the first time since the line-ups were announced) is actual comedy gold - especially at 3-1 I recommend it to anyone in the future.
