Its a decent point all in all coming back against a side with an excellent away record who don't concede many. Very even game then their low shot through bodies (via a slight deflection) catches Patto out, he should do better but he'd made an excellent save minutes before. I thought our response to going a goal down was very positive and they just tried to see it out, the time wasting was ridiculous as per usual. We earned that bit of luck in the end and a decision that goes for us for a change. We push after that and they're hanging on a bit, we just ran out of time. Nice to see us dig in, nice to see us fight and come back to rescue something from the game. I thought Trai Hume and Luke O'nien in particular were brilliant today.
Neither can I really, Bruce and oniel finished mid table PL and Reidy had us a bit higher. I'm comfortable where the club is at right now, some fans seem to have a thirst for drama one way or the other. Almost as if they would prefer the thrill of a relegation fight as opposed to enjoying the last few games watching an exciting young team finish 10th.
You're quite right imo. It's brave to try to do what we're doing and the injuries have crippled us as most fans appreciate. It's much less brave to buy in a few big lads up front and keep launching the ball up there as Millwall, etc, do. Some supporters take that as 'ambition' and get to see the ball in the opposition box which is what they like. What we're doing is something radical and, to be fair, most of the people I know appreciate what we're doing. I've seen periods of play, from Sunderland, the likes of which I've honestly never seen before. If we can raise that from twenty minutes a game to thirty then forty, etc, we'll have a side we can always enjoy watching. I really can't remember a time I could say that ... ... the joy of watching us, during the previous 50 years, was more to do with the support than the quality of our football. Ha'way the Lads, I'm loving this.
It has been a while since we've had nothing really to play for at the end of the season with either promotion or relegation, don't think I can really remember the last time it happened. Might make a bit of a change just to let it all play out and see where we end up
This is Wigans second crack at it and they can't even pay their players. On the flip side we have Sheff Utd who have been in the PL very recently and they can't afford the undersoil heating. Very happy with our set up and how we are progressing.
I want to see as many games as I can before the end, it's been a great season despite half the team being injured, losing a manager and having a series of referees who should be judging scones at the local fête rather than football matches. These kids have fought on through it all and, almost always, given us goals to cheer. I'm just looking at trains for the Birmingham game and, wherever we may be in the table, I'd much rather be us than the opposition ... ... they're a total mess of a club with a decrepit stadium, zero planning or ambition and very little respect in the game.
They've had to shut the bottom blocks in a couple of their stands, the place is dropping to bits. It's a disgrace how the EFL let these owners in and run down clubs.
I saw it on tv. Thought their goal From a free kick which wasn’t a foul and from completely the wrong place. And I’d be upset if we were penalised for what we got the penalty for. But it effectively evened itself out over the game unusually

Which is a foul. I couldn't care less how much of a tug it was ... ... the game is supposed to be an entertainment and attackers should always get the benefit of the doubt imo.
Enjoyed being at the match, first half was pedestrian, neither side playing as well as they can. When we turn it on we play some exciting clever football, just need to do more of it. Ballard had a battle all match and came out with credit. I thought O’Nien was MOTM, always in the right place, played some exceptional first time passes and always trying to push forward. A mention for Gooch also, played really well for the short time he was on. Baath and Hume were on form as usual. Ref was poor again, couldn’t believe how expert Luton were at time wasting, probably how they hang on for so many 1-0 wins. Looking forward to the next game , loving the new SAFC, think a few on here need a little patience. There were 37,000 of us there today, and my impression was that most went home happy.
Well Mowbray's substitutions worked. He needed to lift things with a big change and got it sorted. I'd like to see Bennette get more game time for the rest of the season. Others as well but it's a balancing act. On the way back from the match heard an interesting call with the suggestion that on 60 mins if the game isn't going our way stick Ballard up top as a focal point, O'nien partnering Ballard and Gooch on the left. Why not? He can hold the ball up with other players buzzing around him. Either way what we're trying to do with Gelhardt isn't working so why pursue it?
