Luke Ayling is the first player in Leeds United history to score a goal exactly one year after the previous goal he'd scored for the club. 18 March 2022 vs Wolves 18 March 2023 vs Wolves *Both goals came against the same club, at the same stadium, in the same half, at the same end and with the same celebration!
Good win, congrats. have to say that’s the first time I’ve seen the ref stick with his initial decision when sent to VAR. and I think it was the correct decision, there was a slight pull of the shirt, but no foul was called and wolves sort of just stopped. Wasn’t enough of a foul there for me and I’m slightly surprised they even recommended he take a second look at it - didn’t think there was a clear and obvious error.
In a nutshell that game was played like a cup tie. we were under the cosh for a good 30 mins but they never took their chances sounds familiar eh? strange thing today we did take our chances it was like pin ball 2nd half but by taking our chances we went 3-0 up. Then as Leeds do we gift the opposition a lifeline still think it was crazy decision making from Meslier to go out with a superman diving header was a bit over the top leading to Roca's blind sideways pass giving Jonny a open goal to aim at. but credit to Mes too he made some very important saves in that game today. overall we deserved one of those because we have been in many similar situations so I'm not gonna make a song and dance over the performance. All its about right now is 3 points and they are in the bag. bring on the gunners.
I hope Burnley have made changes to their usual lineup because a team walking the championship are getting battered
And as their xg was twice ours they could have had 12 if we’re using the ‘could have’ logic. But hey who cares. 3 points… and that table looks a damn sight better tonight than this morning.
The only team to pick up 3 points today from the 'not safe nine' Was us. The bale is getting bigger. MOT.
Are we allowed to book the same ref & VAR team for the remainder of our matches? I do believe we got a couple of decisions that we shouldn't have. I've got this vague memory that the last time we got a break. It was in 2001-ish. Remember the match against Troyes? Ref marched out the 10 yards for their free kick at our goal, and moved our wall FORWARD !! a yard. Never seen it before or since. Sadly.
What's wrong with the old traditions. Chuck 'em outside with a coke & a bag of crisps. We shouldn't let these old traditions die ... ..... unless they're paying, of course!
Their first goal was not at all Meslier’s fault. He did what all good keepers do - and did it well. The blame lies with Roca - who otherwise was outstanding today. In general it was a superb away performance by Leeds. And Gracia’s substitutions were spot on.
MotD saying the ref got all the big calls right, except Dawson should have been red carded for the tackle on Harrison, it was red not yellow, as most of us thought at the time.
Morning all. I've been watching Wolves fans reactions to yesterday's game. Apparently referees want Wolves to be relegated. They think there's a conspiracy. To be fair to one guy he did say that they've got to stop blaming the officials because they had enough chances to win. The foul on Semedo was a stone wall penalty. I have watched the replay a few times and I think it's 50/50. If it had been the other way round I think I'd have been aggrieved but it certainly wasn't stone wall. Leeds are a very poor team and it was only poor defending and poor finishing from Wolves that meant they lost. They agree that Jonny deserved a red. They are incensed that a foul wasn't given on Traore. If it was me I'd be asking why the big lump falls over when a child touches his shirt. Stay on your feet and challenge for the ball. He won the ball. They don't think Jonny, Podence and Jiminez are good enough. Basically they're all Salty as fk. We're **** but we just done 'em at their place again.
Apparently they're going to appeal the red card. Hope they extend it to 4 games, for a frivolous appeal
