Re the discussion earlier about palace sacking vieira, here’s Vincent Kompany effectively destroying the crystal Palace chairman, with a logical breakdown of the situation. Won’t happen but would love kompany as Elland road boss. Built a side playing great football from scratch at Burnley… and a really good guy too. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/av/football/64995055
Kompany will take over from Pep according to Pep last week. Still very close to the City Group… On another subject can someone explain why VAR chalked off the Newcastle goal? VAR is fooking joke over here and the VAR ref doesn’t understand the offside rules ffs
1-2…. thought forest we’re going to get away with another spawny result… until they gave away a stupid penalty
Looked good last week against Wolves too. It's taken him a while but he's starting to look like a very good buy after a slow start. Hopefully Rutter will do the same.
That’s a valid opinion and one I hold too, but that’s not the issue. I said last year there was a problem in the camp. Klich had been promised game time but he never got it. Klich said he accepted he wouldn’t play as much or be a starter but was lied to. The same thing happened with Drameh, Gelhardt, Summerville too. All fringe players but it caused tension in the dressing room because Marsch lied to players. Firpo was told he was the clubs left back and even though fully fit was ignored. The reaction he got when he scored showed what the players thought of him. Just one of the ways Marsch mismanaged the club
Morning Doc. And as I’ve pointed out in the past, three awful managers out of last four. Awful. Let’s pray this one is a few levels better. So frustrating watching Newcastle last night and thinking that could have been us with a proper coach like Howe. Not that he’d ever be at LS11 because he wouldn’t be considered and I doubt the gig would have been what he wanted. Hoping Javi can mastermind a win today to at least make the international break bearable
Do you specifically know what Marsch said to these players? Did Marsch promise all these players they would start every single game? If so, that's poor management. However, it's far more likely that managers will say to players that if they train hard and play at a good level then they will get gametime. It's just a standard thing to do. By implying they will be involved doesn't mean playing every game, it just means you won't be outcast. The rest is down to the player to force the managers hand in training, reserve games and appearances for the first team. Klich appeared 16 times this season btw. If Marsch promised him gametime then he got 16 apps. Summerville got his big break under Marsch and sorry but Gelhardt is doing terribly at Sunderland let alone in the PL. He doesn't look like he'll make the grade so maybe Marsch actually got something right there for once. Dramahs only start this season was at Brentford and we lost 5-2. Can you name a game where Dramah has played well for us? Made sense to send him out again as Ayling and Kristensen were in front of him as performances in Leeds shirts go. Let's brush the fact that Gnonto, Summerville and Rodrigo flourished this season and focus on a midfielder that might be upset a bit because he wasn't good enough to play so spat his dummy out and left.
Klich has said... "I wanted to finish my contract at Leeds and leave in one-and-a-half years. I knew before the season that I wouldn't be a core player and would be coming on from the substitutes' bench. I agreed to this role and was curious to see how I would handle it myself. “For the first few games it still looked good, I felt OK. Then we started to play very poorly and I thought I should have had a few chances to play from the start. However, I didn't get any, which I was angry about,” he added. So he was told he would be a sub. Marsch played him from the bench. How is that Marsch's fault? He did what he said he was going to do. Marsch didn't finish Klich at Leeds. Klich got older and slower and that's what finished him at Leeds. Klich decided to leave the club, he was never forced out.
It's a fine juggling act trying to keep the squad happy. There are such fine margins in football, that if a player hasn't got the anaerobic pace to get to the ball first, he places his entire team at a disadvantage, a little bit like Rutter with his 41% passing ability.
Emu I know for a fact that some players were upset with mixed messages. That’s a fact and no amount of sticking up for Marsch can hide this failure. Marsch ended up a big failure andd very telling that nobody wished him well when he left the club. Drameh plays very well, Cresswell too another player they wanted to sell. Joffy was given a big contract extension and then loaned out but playing as a lone striker for Sunderland is not his forte. The Marsch experiment was a failure and the signs were there last season but we glossed over them because we stayed up. But factually things never improved this season and after a year and almost a whole seasons amount of league games the results never improved. He was kept too long. Cresswell and Harrison were being hawked around in January and Marsch must have been involved, but was it Radz trying to sell I don’t know
I read that as Klich saying, I know I'm not good enough any more , but still expect game time. I wanted to finish my contract at Leeds = I'm happy to collect my £120k a month pay cheques
Marsch did fail. No issue with that. However, as I said the other day, players in the team will be happy with the manager and the lads on the periphery won't be as happy. I know I appear to be a fan of Marsch but the reality is that he didn't do well enough. I've no problem with him going. The only issue I have at times now is that Marsch gets blamed for everything that's gone wrong this season and although he is ultimately responsible for his fair share, its not entirely true that every single thing is his fault. In my opinion we should give Dramah a chance to shine. He hasn't only settled in to Championship life but excelled at two different clubs now. I've not seen him play well for our first team just yet but I guess he'd soon find his feet. Signing Kristensen instead of a left back was certainly a mistake last summer. We didn't need another right back. I'll put that on Marsch wanting his red bull mate. I've said this season that we should replace Cooper with Cresswell next season. Imagine Cresswell and Wober, two no-nonsense leaders at centre half. I was shocked that we nearly sold Charlie. Again, I'm not sure that was Marsch. I think the sale of the club and the January spending had more to do with it than Marsch at the time. We probably will never know but we can't just lump that on Marsch alone. Joffy is proving that he is no lone central striker at Sunderland. But he's not even creating things for others. He looks completely lost. He won't make it here at Leeds.
So another maybe meaningless stat says Javi Gracia has now averaged 1.75 points per game way ahead of expectations. If he keeps that up Leeds will amass 46 points. Yeah I know bollox or is it?
