A tad harsh, but I suppose 12 games without a win is concerning.

Regardless of form, they're exactly where you'd expect them to be, and in a reasonable position. Considering how in recent times, Palace have worked there way through dogshit managers like De Boer, Pardew, Pullis, Warnock, Allardyce etc , then Viera was actually a breath of fresh air after that brigade of dross. They were playing good football, making good signings and we're always comfortably safe.

Viera ain't gonna be short of offers.

This. Not sure who they think will step in and genuinely improve them more than Viera could. They are either looking:

    a) all the usual names that get thrown out with any PL club merry-go-round, including some of those you've listed above, or

    b) someone who has done well in another European league (and will then probably get a complete shock in the EPL), or

    c) they genuinely think they will attract one of Europe's elite. Can't see that myself.

They are hard to play against but just can't score.

I don't know what Palace want, they don't spend cash and are safe in the league.

By winning the league with Leicester, Claudio Ranieri's managed to get himself on the relegation zone roundabout.

After Fulham and Watford, he could relegate his 3rd team in 4 years....I'd certainly do it for a few million for a couple of months work.

Crazy that from 12th down to 20th is separated by 5 points with only Forest able to get 2 points clearer than that with one game in hand. Palace after their start to the seasons should be well clear and 0 wins in 12, 4 shots on target over the 4 games previous and 5 goals scored since 1st Jan - makes it almost inevitable the manager will come under pressure.

There seems to be an almost non existent line between "pressure" and being sacked these days. Even when we lost 3 in row including the final, twats on BBC we're having their doubts about Howe.

Looking at the big picture, Viera has done a great job there. Ok bad run, but at least wait until there's real problems until you swing the axe. They're going to look utterly as stupid if they don't have a significant improvement lined up and go for someone like Hodgson or Allardyce.

True but "that's just the way it is" as Tupac says/said. 12 games is a third of a season though with no win and very minimal attacking output. Can you risk the gravy train that is the EPL for a manager whose had 12 good month in the league but struggled for 6?

Klopp at Liverpool for example has amassed 260 points in the previous 3 seasons so this year while he's struggling he's got some credit in the bank but say they drop away tail end of the season and finish 8th would he survive that despite all the good times he's brought back to the red half of Merseyside?

I thought Run DMC said that? Ie it's like that, and that's the way it is.

I guess Klopp has set himself sky high standard at Liverpool and maintained those, so this season is going to be directly compared to what's gone before.

Palace finished 12th under Viera last season and the fans agreed the club was moving the right way and we're very happy with him. In exactly the same place now....ok a bad run, but sacking him now is ridiculously harsh.

This will come back to haunt them unless they already have a good replacement lined up.

Agree it's harsh and you look at some of the teams in the bottom half - I'd not be able to guess which three are going because all of them are inconsistently poor-average so I don't think they'll be in danger come the last few games but its the risk - 3 points away from the drop and the £100m for just being in the league next year. As you say you would think they have someone lined up and ready to start work immediately.
