It's official I am heading for the knackers yard<yikes> After my great visit to Paris last week I had a pain in my foot which I thought was the start of gout (again):( So went to the Docs, got anti-inflammatories. They did not work and the pain got worse as the week went on, so back to the Med Centre today and got sent for an X-ray just in case my arthritis has moved to my ankle<yikes> Only got to wait a week for the results:(

Hey-ho, what could possibly go wrong next? Oh yeah I have to have a full Medical Boarding about my arthritis and they could just could say enough is enough and say goodbye to my RAF career, hope not though but the class feels half empty tonight:(

Really sorry to read that Al. Hope it works out for the best.

When I lived in Northants we had a RAF camp there with about a dozen families living in the village. The camp closed and a number had the opportunity to buy their houses at knock down prices. Some were getting towards retirement and took the chance on finding new work so that they could stay put. It wasn't that easy, but after a while several new businesses sprung up and they all survived. One chap started a driving school and did very well to get two of my daughters through the test without much hassle.

So have you thought about becoming an artist in the back streets of Paris? ;)

OFH, I cannot even draw a straight line with the aid of a ruler<laugh> There are also redundancies coming up for my trade for the very first time, which I think will include some compulsory ones<yikes>

Not the best of times to be in the Services, so much uncertainty. I know things are not brighter in Civvy street!

Don't talk to me about the Radio Times. I used to have to deliver it when I was a paper boy in the dark ages, and in those days it used to weigh a ton. <yikes>

That's a failing in the Scottish education system that I recognise all too well - so I guess times haven't changed!

Sounds like worrying times ahead for you & it's small consolation to know that the rest of the country are in the same boat. :(

Perhaps you should take frenchie's advice - retire gracefully and wander the back streets of Paris as a (piss) artist.

    Sounds good to me :emoticon-0132-envy:
