So it would be 2 in 8 if they don't win tonight and they'll be 4 points off 4th. It just wouldn't be top 4 form mate although I think they'll win tonight anyway.
Seasons are never constant highs unless you're City and even they lose the odd game. We started the season in "meh" form like this, but after we got got into winning we went on an unbelievable run. We have a similar springboard here, with a very gutsy performance against City followed by getting a well deserved win against Wolves.
You can't rule 4th out yet but you can look at the evidence and conclude they'll fall short. Nobody is right yet.
You can level exactly the same argument at Spurs and Liverpool though, they've both been so messy and inconsistent this season. Reality is that it's a weak Premiership, and it should have been there for the taking for Liverpool or Spurs, but they've both ****ed up spectacularly this season.
They're already in the top 4 and have been in more competitions.. Anyway I'm looking at what Newcastle are doing and the last few months results haven't been conducive with a top 4 side....... they win tonight it'll keep the door open but o if they don't I think that's it .. just not good enough.
Spurs are in 4th with us having games in hand on them, Liverpool are in 6th and looking over their shoulder at Brighton. It's bad seasons for both, with both of them crashing out of Europe and not capitalising on a weak Premiership. If Spurs get 4th it'll still be a disappointing season for them, and they stand a fair chance of not getting that. 5th or below will be a disaster for Liverpool, especially being out of all competitions. Don't think ahead, stay in the now.
Nor are Liverpool. Table is what is. Spurs are in 4th, we win the 2 games in hand and we go above them. Spurs playing Soton on Saturday, you wouldn't put money on Spurs to win and they're a good chance Soton will beat them. Spurs have no consistency.
You said live in the now though so that means newcastle aren't 4th best. I don't understand what you're saying there
I mean don't predict we'll finish much lower, go into freefall or that tonight's game determines whether we'll finish in the top 4 or not. Win tonight and great, draw tonight and meh, lose tonight and bad result, but not anything that finishes off the season for us or rules out top 4.
He died in 1953 so we have won the fa cup and fairs cup since then. You forgot the Anglo Italian cup and the Intertoto cup too lol
I am. Good performance against City where we definitely should have a scored, and a comfortable win against Wolves where we controlled the whole game.
You're being selective mate... Newcastle are not 4th so if they don't win tonight at forest I think suggesting they'll not finish there is reasonable. I think newcastle will win though and that will leave the door slightly open
No, it's utterly ludicrous. If we don't win tonight we'll still be 3 or 4 points off 4th with a game in hand and a better goal difference. And still another 12 games to play after tonight with the teams around us underachieving.
What ludicrous is ignoring the view that newcastle aren't 4th best or certainly won't be if they don't get a 2nd win in 8. I think they'll win , but just ignoring results is not the best way to make a prediction mate .
We are the currently the 5th best (with the games in hand on 4th), and it will be the 3rd win in 8, not 2nd. I already pointed out the wins to you earlier, so why do you still think it's only 1 in 7? Ways to make a prediction - quality of players, players available, recent form and quality of opposition. Our players are definitely higher quality and we're nearly a full time, we've recently got out of a bad run, and they have a lot of injuries, but a decent team spirit. Thus I would say - win 50% likely, draw 30%, lose 20%

Either way newcastles form will be relegation form over the last 7 if they don't win tonight. You also said live in the now so by your own logic newcastle are not 4th best? You can't have it both ways mate . I keep saying I think Newcastle will win and if they don't I'm afraid I'm saying forget 4th .
