I’ve noticed that there’s an interesting lack of black goalkeepers too. Black players are common in all other team positions, but not in goal. I’m also surprised at the lack of Asian players too - particularly from the Indian and Chinese subcontinent. That’s more than 1/3 of the world’s population, so it’s surprising (to me) that there aren’t more of them playing at the highest level.
A lack of diversity is only ever called out when there is a perceived under representation of black people. No other race, religion etc. matters, apparently….
