When you get to our time of life mate,it's par for the course,no-one said life was fair. None of us know what's around the corner. Just try to enjoy one day at a time...don't get wrapped up too much in the future....what might be,what might not be.
caught up with the posts from last night, was too annoyed after the game to read up...some strong opinions starting to take shape and most reactions i seem to agree with. personally, i am sticking with this side doing better than imagined and surprising a fair few in this league (you dont get as many tv slots for long ball hoofs) especially as we have gone half the season without a recognised striker/attacker/front man and the youngest 11. yes there are mistakes along the way (no 'spare' striker, two young lads having to play/share the defensive midfielder role etc) but as i said last night nothing can be taken from the squad, there is not a game i can think of where they have not tried or anyone who has 'hidden' when out there, they may be having a bad game but they still show for the ball and help out...i will take a lad who seems to divide opinion currently (not just to pick on him) and that is dan neil, in my opinion that defensive mid role is one of those positions that really needs that experienced head, there are times in games i am sitting thinking 'what the feck are you doing?' as he takes a second longer to react or turns into trouble, then he comes up with a run of games where he looks like a young lad with all the experience needed but the bottom line is he IS a young lad and is learning, i could probably say similar for most of the squad but for some reason dan neil is mentioned every game, hume's tackle was dire and could have seen him get a red but if onien had made the same tackle you can guarantee several, usually hidden posters would be on saying he should never be in the team again. target this season was to survive, it looks like we have managed that step...summer recruitment is vital and what i want to see first are LND contract sorted, at least two striker/front men in the door followed by an experienced defensive mid as cover, what i do not hope to see is a lack of back up for LND and young lads playing every game when they look run into the ground.
I agree, plus the above 3 teams mentioned doing well have the right manager/coach in. Can see Brighton loosing theirs, but no doubt will have replacements.
Absolutely shocking that mate. GPs too quick to brush stuff off with looking. Very over worked at the moment with the influx of new patients though. I wish your friend all the best.
I thought we were bullied and out matched for the majority of the game. It's happened a number of times this season, but bizarrely, in most of those games we still have opportunities to get a result and last night was no different. It shows that we have highly talented individuals but not necessarily the right balance in the squad. Their physicality was evident last night and it was probably the main difference between us. The linesman ****ed up for their goal but I thought they probably deserved the result. Their midfield consisted of 2 Man City players (who they don't want to let go of permanently) and a £22m player. It was always going to be a big ask. If McAtee is not ready for the prem next year, I'd take him here. He's an excellent footballer.
Yeah good summary. We need to increase our physcial presence no doubt about it. Got some cracking technical players just need to adjust the balance.
Anyone know if the Premier Concourse is likely to be open for the Luton game, no availability showing at present, can't imagine it's completely full?
Obviously disappointed with last nights result but if we can keep the nucleus of the squad another season or two in this division wont be a bad thing.
Nothing to do with how he performs, and my post doesn’t even indicate anything of the sort, talk about a strange post. I was pointing out that Donald, your mate, sold any jewel in the crown, except this one. Maybe that is clouding your judgement since you have written off a 21 year old who has played 30 odd games at this level. A point you managed to avoid by typing the fabricated waffle you just did
Totally agree mate, I cannot get my head round people wanting to go in the premier league with kids hardly out of nappies they will be the first in the queue moaning like f uck every week. They moan like f uck now with kids who’ve never even played in the Championship before. Want to give their heads a massive shake, hopefully until it falls off. 3 years here is fine by me.
Wasn’t there a time when cramp was only ever seen on the “ wide, draining “cup final Wembley pitch ? If we can spot your observation that only winning side players get it , then surely the refs should consider that - and maybe get them off the pitch for their “ recovery “
Personally I think as in Rugby, using a 'stop-clock' when the game is stopped, is better than adding time on.
Try looking over the road mate - there's people saying that the model is a failure as are all selling clubs and basically suggesting our owner should be bankrolling us to success. Modern football fans are proper ****e at times. That's not a proper supporter of our club in my opinion. I'm torn on whether going up is a good thing or not though - the money is too good to turn down, though I do agree that it might not be good development for most of our players. I'm still not sure just how high the ceiling is for this team either. Bournemouth paid £20m for a 21 year old winger who already had 2 years experience in the top flight of France in January. Brighton have a 21 year old midfielder valued at £80m. Leicester and West Ham have teams full of international stars and are in trouble. I fear we might need to sign 15 players no matter what time we go up, which I wouldn't particularly like.
It's easy for fans to suggest we throw money at it, because if it fails, it's someone else's fault and the answer is to "throw more money at it".
To reach the top four you'd need to equal their level of spending ... ... anything less than top four isn't worth spending half that amount. My only hopes are to see Sunderland admired for their football, top half of the PL and to win a cup at Wembley. That's pretty much being 'The Brighton of the North' which doesn't sound too ambitious but better than being another Derby.
