Someone looking for a "name" rather than a footballer. The list of teams that would do that are short. You're looking at sugar-daddy clubs or Real Madrid. I think his market rate is probably closer to £40Mil. But letting him go would also remove £20mil a year off our wages.
I'd sooner get rid of Jota, Gakpo, Bobby before Mo. Mo has not been as good this season but is still our most dangerous attacker. Now imagine putting decent players next to him in attack.
Good news for you then. though getting shut of the new false 9 to keep a rw makes no sense but there you go.
I doubt any club would use transfermarkt's valuation of a player. For us plebs, however, it's a reasonable source for these types of discussion.
I think I’d use the if we were buying him how much would we like to pay? We’d never pay 70m for him so why would anyone else?
You guys are a tad more frugal (some might say sensible) than other clubs though, I could see PSG paying somewhere in that region for him, even at his age. Or possibly a club in the middle East, if he decided to go down the Ronaldo route, which is possible, seeing as he has certain cultural similarities with them, being Muslim. Probably not many other European clubs who would though.
probably depends how much dosh psg have off mbappe. I think messi, neymar will go and mbappe will stay for 12 months and leave on a free? if psg lose them all they will be rebuilding big time
Unfortunately, I think we have close to zero% chance of anyone offering that much. I'm not a club accountant, but I'd bite immediately at £40mil. He's clearly still quite good, but I think we can get a great long term prospect for £40mill and at the same time save £10mil + on wages each year with his replacement. On top of his still existing (but declining) talent, his name-value offers quite a draw to many teams so helps boost his value some. I don't think his name draw really pulls in much for us anymore, at least not domestically, he might bring bums to seats on a summer tour; but I think if he went to a European club people would come just to see Salah play.
Our strategy has been 'as little as possible'. It's the old notion - he's worth what someone is prepared to pay. Personally I couldn't put a valuation on him atm for either selling or buying. Out of interest what valuation would you put on Harry Kane who has helped his club win absolutely nothing? When you've replied with your answer I'll tell you what his transfermarkt valuation is.
29, if he doesn't sell or get new contract this summer he goes on a free. Pretty high profile and consistent. I don't know how transfermarkt calculates values; I expect a team in England to be much more willing to shell out a large amount than a team on the continent. He's probably a £30 (max) million buy for a Spanish/Italian team but because of Home Grown status and place on England team might go for £45 mill. He's on a free next summer and not very young, so it's his "big name", fact that massive bids launched in recent season, and the "English premium" that would increase his value so high.
Clubs do odd things that are not really logical. If someone has a lot of cash at hand they will do something that another club might not do. aka markovic (who the hell would pay 20mil for him unless they had a handful of cash) In general if you look at real madrid they are pretty much set up for then the old stagers finally go (and all thier old stagers ran ours off the park btw) Benzema = rodrigo Modric? Camavinga Kross? Touchamendi all the young lads and they want Bellingham maybe and definitely mbappe. Yet.... they went and wasted 100mil on hazard. if you look at bayern they are hunting old stagers and bargains not big money If you look at PSG they just do mad stuff. The point on kane is a good one. You don't buy kane for what spurs won you buy kane for his record of goals. theres a lot to factor into kane valuation including age and contract siutation but most of all its not what a sensible club would do (city aid get stuffed and went for haaland) its what will man utd do? I think eronsally utd will pull another maguire and bid something like 80 and end up playing 100. If i were looking about i'd buy elsewhere personally.
Yes, there are always clubs like PSG, City, Chelsea, and occasionally United who break the curve and pay way too much for a player. One of those four clubs could easily pay double what he's worth (or more)- outside of those four clubs, I don't see him possibly going for more than 45.
I used Kane because he's similar age to Salah and similar goal ratio. He's had nowhere near the impact on his team that Salah has had. If you pare away the nationalities (premium paid for being English) and the actual contract situations ie free next summer or whatever, how do we reach a valuation for each? What parameters do we use? This is where I factor in their individual impact which is loosely based around how successful each of their teams have been and why I think Salah's pay rise was about rewards for what he's done rather than what he may do. It's a reward for him not an incentive. (It should actually be an incentive as well I might add.)
you nailed it when you said the valuation is what someone is willing to pay. The salah contract however is not a reward, its to retain his services cos we could see mane gone and having both gone at once with firmino on the way down was too much. We either agreed with salah a long time before and left it to july 1 for FFP etc or we simply caved.
