Sorry Ruben but your team selection was wrong from the start and we wasted almost an hour with Mo El and Diallo on the pitch. We are playing at home against an away team that are beatable so start your best attacking team. 3 attempts, 2 from way out in the first 45 told the story. If Lavia is fit he starts every time instead of Diallo and we have Stu or Theo that are more dangerous than Mo El (who is the least productive AM I can ever remember in a Saints shirt).
Eeeesh, that was a very frustrating game. You bring on a 6ft 7 striker, and all the crosses then find Theo. For all the possession, we didn't actually threaten them. I don't remember Raya really having a save to make there. We really need to beat Spurs now.
I didn't think Diallo did anything wrong really. The depressing thing is, every single time we play against a team that are solid at the back and require us to do something clever to break them down, we just can't do it. Actually, the most depressing thing is Gary Birtles, but that's a close second.
Embarrassing recruitment. Onuachu = 20m Sulemana = 20m Orsic = 8m (I think) Alcaraz = 12m 60m and it's only Charly who's improved us. And he will likely have a relegation clause.
Diallo was our best player. Ward Prowse was his usual self of waiting to take a free kick and being **** the rest of the time and was his fault for no dynamism from midfield. Ultimately nobody was that bad today, just as a collective this team is **** and far too passive
All that money and our best attacking player is currently playing at Burnley in the championship. Shambles
And teams know this, not sure how many games we’ve lost 1-0 where we’ve conceded relatively early then “dominated” the game. All you need is a single goal and to sit in and you will win.
Birtles was the most entertaining thing in the end. This is why I'd suggest Stu and possibly Aribo with Alcaraz in games where defences sit deep. No point sending Sulemana on a run down the wing; he isn't producing anything. We need quick little one-twos around the front of the box, with players with good feet who likely get fouled etc.
Because Lavia is very good. We would play better if he started with anyone. Not sure how many games he and Diallo have played together?
Wouldn't surprise me at all tbh. They'll defo end up being dogshit again after winning at the weekend. It's what they've done this season.
The saving grace with Sulemana is it tends to be his final decision that is a bit off currently. Mané was the same when he first joined. I'm just not sure if we've bought the new Mané or the new Djenepo. Time will tell.
It’s genuinely unbelievable to me that Diallo & Ely played again. Like. I can’t fathom how selles can possibly start them in a must win game. In general I think he’s doing ok, we definitely seem to have improved under him. But just.. what the ****. How many times do they have to prove that they are ****
