Just seems very little tempo/intensity. Diallo and JWP dominating the middle but just nothing going forward. Ely being Ely and just doesn’t have the pace for any defender to be bothered at all by him
I don't think we have played that bad. Good movement and balls through the line. We are still in this for a 1-1 draw.
Has Sulemana done much? Doesn’t sound like he’s been involved. Can we bring Paul on and try going direct? It doesn’t sound like we can penetrate their defence.
Diallo and Moi off ASAP if we are to have any chance of winning this. Ely is too slow and diallo is just nowhere near good enough.
Diallo has been okay, Ely predictably crap. Relegation battle; pick your strongest team every time. They can rest in the summer.
He does a few okay things, but no more creative than Tella or Redmond would have been. Less so, to be honest.
Surprise, surprise, Mo El and Diallo start and we go back to being slow and methodical with very little creativity. Only 3 shots with none on target tells the story, simply not good enough for a home game that we need a result in. We need to get more players forward quicker and attack their penalty box if we want to get anything from this.
His main threat is his pace in behind but we aren’t playing the ball (possibly because of the surface) We’ve looked alright going forward just all slows down when we get into the final third and take too long to really trouble them. Been an even game apart from they’ve looked very dangerous from set pieces Diallo been our best player to be fair to him
Still in the game. That pivot of Diablo and jwp is so uninspiring. If we want to win this a different approach is needed. Che hasn’t played well as a lone striker, ever, that isn’t going to change tonight. He’s not doing well holding up tonight compounded by nobody getting close to him when we do get it to him. Does anyone record results based on weather? Do we ever win in the rain?
We've been oddly cautious. It's like we're feeling the pressure of what might be considered a winnable game, rather than against United, where it seemed more like "sod it, let's just go for it and see what happens". Diallo has been fine, but no doubt we miss Lavia's physical presence and the way he pushes forwards. It's a bit mid-Ralph at the moment, performance-wise. Important that Ruben gees them up a bit at half time. Personally I blame Birtles. For most things. But particularly this, as the last game he commentated on was the game against Forest. He's the very worst commentator in the world. By a distance too. We can get back into this, and even win it, but we need to be braver going forwards.
I don't know if Ruben is trying to prove a point but the decision to drop Lavia is shooting yourself in the foot unless he is not 100%.
I think Theo or Stu would make a bigger difference in this one actually. They’re sitting quite deep and just stopping our attacks easily, because we’re so ponderous. And the greatest ponderer of all is Lucy.
