Here's a plan. Maybe you could stop commenting "another conspiracy" after every comment I make. I picked this up from what was said on the BBC text report of the match and it seems there was a case for it being a poor decision, moreso because it resulted in the first goal. I didn't use the word conspiracy, I have no opinion about that. I am sorry if you think the word "dodgy" is a synonym of conspiracy, for me it also means bad or incompetent. That may well be poor English on my part but I never claimed to have good English. So can I ask that you don't keep on saying that because it's like saying I'm not allowed an opinion. Plus if I really thought everything was a conspiracy then why the hell shouldn't I say so?
How Werner got booked for this, and Ederson didn’t get sent off, even with VAR supposedly in use, is incredible. He literally gets nowhere near the ball and wiped out the German forward. Utterly reckless. Yet City fans whinge UEFA are “out to derail them” . Joke.
I don’t say it after every comment you make. Just the tinfoil hat ones. But you do seem to have this chip on your shoulder than certain teams are treated differently all the time, you’re free to say what you like, but I’m also free to comment on response to anything I read on this forum
Indeed. There's a saying that one can stay silent and appear stupid or say something and remove all doubt, which puts us all at risk.
It was an awful decision, there is no conclusive proof from any of the angles that I have seen that the ball actually touched his hand, and that's without it coming from behind him, and his arms being in the normal position for someone who is jumping. And whilst I know that players reactions are not the best indicator of what has happened but he seemed genuinely perplexed by the decision. And yes when they win 7-0 it might seem churlish to dispute this, but goals change games and we don't know if Leipzig had got through to HT level, City and their fans may have got anxious and the game is very different.
UEFA can do whatever they want to favour Citeh in the CL, as long as the latter never win the final. Other than that, when fate draws them against Spurs (and nature does the rest) ...
Football is a game with very fine margins and one incorrect decision can not only lead to a goal but also means the ball is in a different position for a restart so the rest of that half happens in a completely different way. Which is why the Laws need to be completely revised to make them unambiguous and not to punish minor accidental transgressions with a penalty kick.
I don't think it is as clear cut as everyone is making out. Neither player gets to the ball, Ederson is closer but the players collide before anyone touches it. Since he is nearer the ball at that point I think there is more of a case that he was fouled than he committed a foul. Probably should have been neither though. Yellow card could have been given for dissent in that case
The yellow was for dissent. Laimer is the player running through and Werner is booked. It's just an undeniable foul by Ederson, though. He leaps into a tackle and misses the ball. I don't think it's a red because of the covering players, but a yellow would be appropriate.
I think the only reason Ederson doesn't get to the ball is because Laimer gets between him and the ball at the last moment. Who is fouling who in this circumstance is not clearly covered in the Laws. I don't think it is a tackle though because no-one has possession but that also isn't how tackle is defined in the Laws.
Laimer doesn't impede Ederson. He even pulls up a bit because he knows what's coming. Ederson jumps into him and takes him out, preventing him from getting to the ball.
Basaksehir were level with Gent with 30 minutes on the clock. By 33.25 they were 3-0 down and Gift Emmanuel Orban had a hat-trick. With 37 minutes gone they were 4-0 down. ****ing hell, that's a collapse! The goals: 1-0: https://streamin.me/v/ee69ed57 2-0: https://streamin.me/v/4fda08d0 3-0: https://streamin.me/v/8223ebe7 4-0: https://streamin.me/v/8610fa89 Orban's a 20-year-old Nigerian striker that Gent signed from Stabaek, a Norwegian top-flight side. He scored 19 goals and got 7 assists in 24 games in the 2nd tier last season as they went up. Since joining Gent in January he has 9 in 8 matches, not including today's hat-trick (so far). He scored 4 on the weekend against Zulte Waregem in a 6-2 away win. Probably not going to be in Belgium for long, if he keeps this up.
