Yep, read it several times, fantastic book. You'll get into it eventually. I've written countless essays on it too <laugh>

Some editions have a little Nadsat dictionary in the back. Skorry, glazzies, horrorshow, there's some real good ones that I still use sometimes in conversation <laugh> Think it's best to just read it and not think about what the words mean, you'll soon pick it up like, me starry droog! ;)

This should help initially. When i read it i ended up picking up the language within about 50 pages...it's worth slogging through until you learn it <ok>

On a side note, just recently started reading American Psycho. That book has some frankly disgusting descriptions!

American Psycho is what i've just read, such a ****ed up book but the best book i've read at the same time.

I'm quite worried though because I can't help but idolise Patrick Bateman.

I have to agree with both of you! It's so sick some of the stuff he does!

<laugh> it's a bit worrying that you idolise him! I do think he's pretty interesting though...it's hilarious how he gets away with saying straight in people's faces that he wants to murder them <laugh>

I thought it was meant to be some sort of reflection of that society; that they just don't care what you say. The constant description of the clothes sort of proves the vain society.

I doubt i'd have thought of any of that if i wasn't doing English A-level! It screws with your views on books <laugh>

    <laugh> !

Doobidoob. A bit tired, maybe. Best not to say more. Bedways is rightways now, so best we go homeways and get a bit of spatchka. Right, right? ! Was always my favourite quote! Don't know why. We used to just say doobidoob quite a lot as a 'nevermind' kinda thing <laugh>

That's the same with doing film at college, instead of watching a film like "This scene is scary" or something, I'm there like "Well the framing right there is awful!" So annoying <laugh>

That's the whole thing with American Psycho, does it all happen or is it a collection of fantasies that he plays out in his mind? That's certainly the indication.

A Clockwork Orange is superb, very difficult to grasp initially but well worth persevering with.

If you want a book that will test your ability to comprehend language have a look at Riddley Walker by Russell Hoban.
