Oof. This is some statement, mind.

Keating brushed aside human rights concerns about China by arguing there are “disputes about what the nature of the Chinese affront to the Uyghurs” is, in reference to documented abuses that the UN has said are likely to be “crimes against humanity”.

Steal a loaf of bread and you'd have to take the consequences ...

... if it had maggots in it they'd charge you for for theft of livestock as well <laugh>

The budget? I did wonder why I knew what was going to be in the budget before they announced the budget. Did this happen under previous governments? I can't remember.

Don't think so, but only because the TV media weren't so on the ball

Interesting that the pension lifetime allowance has been abolished.

Pensions aren't the only factor in lots of over 50s not working. The COVID fallout being the main one - lots more over 50s are in poor health due to the NHS binning off virtually everything but COVID for two years, and they're also fed up with how they were treated by bosses over that two years as well.

I'm only 48 but the way my age bracket and above were considered expendable so we could catch up on paperwork while our bosses hid at home was the final straw for many. It's the main reason why I left my job.

Triggering the greatest leaving-do in history I would imagine.

I retired 2020 at 57, and was happy as Larry until I've found myself more and more helping my mother due to the onset of dementia. I think they are mentioning a lot of the 9m retired over 50s are caring for elderly. Think the business model needs a massive reboot. A lot of firms are not taking on over 50s...

Before Covid I had no real intention of ever retiring but then having six months off and really enjoying it, just decided not to go back. It’s brilliant
