Got a bit more money floating about at the minute and managed to get myself to 3 home games so far this season including the 3-1 against Blackburn where we basically mullered them.

But at the games I've been to I've noticed that although we're doing very well, the atmophere for the majority of the match has been absolutely shocking compared to last season and particularly bad when comparing it with the relegation season and the season in the championship. Nobody seems to want to sing anymore and I've sat in two different sections this season (level 4 & level 7) and everyone just seems to look at you like you've shat in your seat if you try to get a chant going.

I know with the abolishing of level 7 and the seat changes its obviously been affected but that still wouldn't fully explain the massive drop in volume completely would it?

    Anyone else annoyed by this?

    I want this noise back:

I remember when it was like this every game :(

When it gets going in the Gallowgate it sounds class. But it's often just small pockets, unless we're winning comfortably/just after a goal.

I can very rarely hear much from the gallowgate mate, probably because I normally sit at the opposite end of the ground though I'd expect.

The South East Corner used to be amazing, managed to get the same seats for every home UEFA cup tie, we used to get the chants going by rattling the advertising board behind the seats. Memories!

Didn't the 'Toon Ultras' used to be seated there before the move up to Level 7? Need to bring it back there, which unfortunately would mean relocating all the boring people who don't want to vocally back their team. Which would never happen <doh>

Can't see it improving quickly, unless a new singing section gets put in place somewhere.

Though the atmosphere was very good against Everton.

Especially towards the end of the game.

Thought atmosphere was brilliant for first 35 mins or so against Everton (or at least as good as it's been all this season) then second half got a bit nervy and quieter, but still some good singing when it got going.

The abolishment of the singing section was stupid. Hopefully they'l bring it back at some point, it's pointless having people who want to sing sitting next to people who don't, ruins it for both parties.

Yea first 35 minutes and last 10 minutes were excellent. Just need more people to join in.

Would be fantastic if the whole Gallowgate end would start singing and backing the team as they should do!

The Spurs game was a perfect example of the crowd waiting for something to happen in order to cheer rather than getting behind the team to inspire them and push them forward.

The atmosphere in the first half was one of the worst I have experienced at SJP for a number of years, but the final 30 minutes or so were cracking. Despite that there were still a number of sections where little to no noise was being generated.

Wasn't one of the reasons for dispersing the "singers" to prevent, and I quote, "persistent standing"?

Standing is banned full stop and any such singing section would be seen by the powers that be as promoting standing. They need to relax the laws for the good of the game, maybe even bring back terrace sections.

Man City have given their fans a singing section where they allow standing.

    http://forums.bluemoon-mcfc.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=237953

Why can't NUFC allow us to do this if other clubs are?!

One positive thing I'll say, having been to all but 4 matches last season, and now being across the pond and watching every match on tv, unlike when I watch Liverpool, or Man U, or Fulham (the list goes on), you at least never hear the away fans singing at SJP on tv...surely thats partly due to where they're seated, but I only ever hear our fans when at home, or our fans when away.

Serious question, what are your thoughts on SJP being renamed Sports Direct Arena? *allegedly*

i reckon the crowd has been great, i've been to 5 matches this season and the players seem to be enjoying it and pardew is also bigging it up, obviously it can be louder and i wish it was, cause i shout my bollocks off regardless if i'm at the match or not, groups of people seem to be good for this, maybe theres alot more individuals going to the matches, so just shout and people will join in that's really all it comes down too.

*don't get me wrong like i have sat next to some miserable twats but ya na, if they don't want to hear screaming and shouting, watch the match at home*

Honestly? Not entirely bothered. Signs have got to the point where I barely notice them anymore and he's done the worst now (put them next to the Newcastle United sign). Nobody is seriously gonna call it Sports Direct @ St. James' Park. It will always be SJP to us and to everyone else, same as Stamford Bridge will always be Stamford Bridge even if it gets renamed <ok>

Did you not read the club's Q&A with the Chronicle when the singing section was turfed out of their seats for families? ( which is a freudian slip for we couldn't give a toss so long as we sell more tickets. "The club wants a better all round atmosphere"............zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
