If you like ULEZ & congestion charge cameras charging you to drive around London you will love 15 minute cities .
Why would anyone want to drive around London? Members of my family have worked in various London locations for years, they've never taken their private car into the City, I just can't think why you would. I accept ULEZ expands further and I understand some arguments against that, but tbph we never are going to like change, but like the congestion charge it will eventually be accepted, much as crossing the Dartford Toll is accepted, you have to pay, alternatively you could take the mad way and drive clockwise and spend it in fuel instead.
Having tried without success to cross Oxford one afternoon and getting about 50 metres in half an hour I think it's probably a good idea. I turned round and took the ring road getting across the city in ten minutes.
I live in a place that's been designated to be turned jnto a 15 minute city . Which means putting up more cameras & charging drivers for using their cars outside their district £70 a pop
Just playing devils advocat here, but how much does it cost to tank a car these days, £100? Easy to burn that in a week, and people don't seem to care, leave the car at home, don't burn a £100 don't get charged £70 for passing no go.
Then you need to use public transport, thats is more expensive than a car, also you could end up sitting next to someone like me.
It doesn't, it's not part of the plan for 20 minutes cities and they can very well do this without a 20 minute city.
I live in the sticks, that 15 min walk will get me to the end of the lane. On a serious note what if its pissing it down with rain or you need to collect a heavy item not that old
Pay for delivery. Seriously though mate, I never carry anything heavy, I just pay to get it delivered.
Whatever , I don't care what you believe but for me it looks like more Government control and monitoring. If they crash the banks & push us onto cbdc then they can just switch off your chip if you leave your district meaning you can't buy food or use transport. China are pretty much there in the big city's with facial recognition cameras to enter apartment blocks & social credit scores . It's pretty **** if you have a red QR code
I'm all for it, loved lockdown and the massive decline in traffic and instead people walking (in their permitted exercise hour). Of course I was still driving because I do an essential, proper job.
