I agree it won't be considered a successful season overall, I wondered what crumbs people would settle for. Actually making it into the top 4, from this point, I would consider a successful end to the season especially when so many gave up very early on.

    how about this.

did any fan enjoy much of this season?

we've seen two capitulation by teams and managers at our hands. aside form that it's been a real struggle to enjoy the football as its not been entertaining.

leave out trophies, those are the amazing results that only the few can enjoy.

did the fans get their moneys worth out of this season.

    my vote is no.

I agree with all of that but it doesn't answer my question. It's actually unbelievable that we are still in contention for CL with the way the games have been played. You could also make an argument for what you've said there as being representative of a lot of our fan's views and a sign of our entitlement.

I still think we are in with a good shout of top 4, we've been **** this season, but are still only 6 points off.

God forbid we put a decent run if results together though.

If we over turn Madrid I'd be absolutely ecstatic.

Only 6 points off. With a game in hand and play the team in 4th... And have a superior goal difference.

Win game in hand and game against Spurs we're in 4th. Definitely doable.

It's an absolutely massive IF, but if we could actually win 4/5 games on the bounce, we'd be breathing down utds neck never mind spurs.

Unfortunately winning 2 games on the bounce looks a challenge at the moment.

    No they won't.

I dont understand the difference in performance levels between home and away, or is it the opposition are more passive when they are at anfield so we've got a better foothold?

    I dunno.

I do know we have seen it before over the years. We have always been able to winnat home no matter how poor we have been. That's the anfield factor.

I honestly think teams at home are obliged to push a bit more aggressively if not offensively and we seem just to be weak mentally or physically.

As a young boy, getting hit by a 25 year old man, it leaves its mark. Doesn't matter how good you are.

What you're hoping for is help from the seniors on tge team, Bournemouth player runs all over Elliott, then fab or trent or ****ing anybody goes right through him, let them no the young lads are protected.

Unfortunately that's just not there and the youngsters are left to fend for themselves.

I said on another post, trent looks like he's winding down time until he's away, so does salah.

Virgil looks a shadow of the player he was, not so much physically as psychologically. Hes lost that aggression and command that he had.

It's odd but half the team look like they are killing time waiting for the season to end.

Only Darwin, bajectic, elliot and Robertson have shown concerted levels of actually giving a ****.

Top 4 from here would be a success given how awful we’ve been. If we do get it it’s prob more to do with others failing more than us though.

There are two ways of looking at it. If you run away with the league like we did when we won it, what others do (or did) has no bearing on it.

I always look at the positives or negatives of what we did but appreciate the opposition's performance had a bearing too.

For example, I acknowledged that Man Utd didn't defend particularly well against us but pointed out that poor defending still needs to be punished which we did very well
