I am not going to say any words that I will have to eat later! Po is just going through the motions, he has said nothing that I would not have expected him to say, even if he believed it to be a lost cause, he would be not be able to say so.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bmm2AETWK1U Fast forward to 2mins 20....Nananananana re we keeping up?! No you're not you ignorant idiots! Satisfying.
....... that he might be right perhaps? That would be a massive problem for our egos, but I expect we will be big enough to get over it, should it happen.
Like the comment attributed to Adkins about Brighton keeping up, this is a bit out of context. It was lifted from comments he was making about things being reversed this year and if they beat us the papers will be full of it. Hate to be fair to poyet, but it didn't sound quite like that.
Finally seen an online Echo version of Poyet's comments. You called it correctly, Fran. Poyet is actually wondering if his team will get anything from the tie, and how astonishing it would be if they did. Everyone else has misunderstood. I'm bound to say, it took a woman to see it.
Not a surprise Fran, just hoping it might make the guys think, or check at least, before they write, next time.
He never said that ( well he did but someone has missed quoted him) he said something along the lines of IF we beat Saints we will be all over the papers. So its more of a complement to us then your report makes out!
Having read the most recent comments here, I've gone and read the article myself, and I have to say that I agree. Poyet is praising us, and simply says at the end that finally bringing our long home winning run to an end would be such a big achievement that the media would be all over it. It's a bit like Claridge. Some Saints fan hate him/them so much, that they even criticise when he/they praise us.
Again, yes we are on a good run of form and they are not... But we shouldn't expect to walk it! They will park their team on the goal line and it will take some breaking down! Nothing is a walk in the park!
Let him run of at the mouth as much as he likes it will only serve to add motivation to an already highly motivated top of the table group of players who knows the seagulls could end up on the end of a pasting
Poyets apparent dislike for the mighty Saints might have something to do with the fact that his first game in charge of Brighton was their 1-3 win at St Mary's in November 2009. And it's been downhill ever since, so that, is as good as it's ever got for him versus Saints. That's my theory and I'm sticking to it, unless Alan Pardew made a pass at his wife............
