Even if we don't score enough to overturn the deficit, it will still be nice if we can at least win by a couple goals just to earn some respect back.
0-0 is a respectable score. real sat off, we sat off. nobody got tired, nobody got humiliated. getting a plastering by real again is the worst case here. it can lead to serious questions about the side and manager. chasing a lost cause, getting a glorious moral victory and going out then losing next 2 league games would be folly of the highest order. giving it a go for 20mins... not the worst thing in the world.
Winning a game by three goals is what we have to do. It's not an impossible task. I'd feel more inclined to sack a manager who gave up just because they felt winning a game by three goals was undoable.
If you think winning away at the bernebau is doable after losing away to bournemouth 0-1 against a side who have conceded more goals than anyone in the prem and 9 to us at home.... well that's optimistic. that's more than a mountain to climb. It more like everest in flip flops and a Hawaiian shirt.
Obviously the odds are heavily in Real's favour! It's not like they're unbeatable though. They've failed to win 2 of their last 3 league games... and it's not unprecedented. Barcelona overturned a four goal deficit to PSG. We came back three goals in only 45 mins to a (then) vastly superior Milan in a cup final. Three goals is not that unheard of for a team to score, especially when back is against the wall. It would be incredibly foolish to give up now, especially when top four is not guaranteed and we need champions league football next season to attract good talent for our team rebuilding. We've been alternating between good and bad performances lately. Due a good one now.
I'll be honest, the day I'm not excited about Liverpool running out at the bernabau, is the day I stop watching football.
Mate surely your looking forward, even if you think we are going to get slaughtered, there's got to be part of you that a little bit excited Or has the champions league jaded everyone with its huge amount of games?
Losing 1-0 to Bournemouth after beating United 7-0 is a very lfc thing to do this year… and it would sum up our season if we went and won this game after that wouldnt it.
I cannot believe some of the comments on here. Go to Madrid, nick the first goal and try to get a second before half time. Unrealistic maybe, but we have done unrealistic before
people never bring up the nights where it didn't go right, itd always the occasions thst were stirring examples of amazingness.. 1-0 to madrid at bernebau 0-0 at anfield. 1-0 athletic at their sithole aet loss, mad score in anfield as we run out of steam in extra time etc etc etc etc most clubs don't win anything any all lose somehow. we are lucky to win things sometimes so get these results. most years we don't make a stirring comeback
