We'd all like him to perform and have a place in the side. But he's got to justify it in front of Jones, Macca or Elder in the current format.

Otherwise its just moving the goalposts cos someone's got a man crush.

I completely disagree, since Rosie's come in we've got a top 4 (or so) defensive record in the league and Macca & Alfie have both been fantastic. If either were to become available in the summer, there would be an almighty scrap for their services, especially considering they aren't particularly high earners. With both heading into their option years, I'm sure there are plenty of very good championship sides monitoring their situation.

The pair of them are looking so dominant, and they're good on the ball too. They've got everything for this level. If you take away the Norwich game, they've only conceded 5 goals since the end of December or it's 6 clean sheets out of 12.

Was it you or someone else I made this point to in the off-season that in fact our defence was already promotion-challenging and it was just our attack that needed improving. Whoever it was seemed to think the only reason we were defending so well was because of the back 5 that limited our scoring potential, but that's clearly not true this season. Think a lot of perspectives on Jones and McLoughlin have shifted this season as a result.

I've shown that we have not played two up front very recently despite being told we have.
I've also been told that Greaves is good at left back despite LR leaving him out of the team recently.
I've come up with my preferred formation and team but nobody else has come up with a preferred formation or team. I think they would if they could better mine.

You know what, given the opposition I'd put Greaves in for Elder on Wed but you've got Connolly in your line up who isn't even fit and I don't see where the creativity comes from with 5 defenders and 3 dm's.

We have one fit striker so until further notice it'll be a false one in behind Oscar til the international break at least

But were tight as a gnats chuff defensively, need to attack, so please tell me why we need a 3rd centre half?

Although Slater started off as a DM he isnt now. He's very creative.
I know Connolly is injured but my lineup was based on no injuries.
There's always compromises when you can only play 11.
It would be interesting to see if anybody can come up with a better formation AND lineup.

    I really don't need to.

Reality exists beyond your limited imagination.

Injuries have been the bane of the season , but we have the talent.

And you still haven't justified going to an inherently more defensive formation, despite us needing to sharpen the offensive end of the pitch by putting in an extra defender.

Perhaps Acun could have given you a call for exciting progressive football ahead of Liam eh?

I'm interested to know you can criticise my formation and team without being able to come up with one yourself.

    For Burnley?

    —-----------Darlow----------
Greaves - Macca- Jones - Coyle
    -------Seri--------50K - - - - -
    Allahyar--- - - Ozan - - - - Dimi
    --------- - - Oscar------------

With a rotating forward midfield 3 - Longman, Doc and Mally to come on when the lads returning from injury tire.

No. I meant if everybody was fit. Would Connolly be in your team? If so, what would you change?
You'd play Greaves at RB and Coyle at LB?
Your attacking midfield has 3 very ineffective players.
Slater started off as a DM but now he's been doing well as an AM.

Do you read left to right like everyone else?

And if Connolly was fit and showed the same form as the 3 games he was fit then as long as he stayed fit and not got 'distracted' again and he justified his loan and we signed him as a permenant asset - then I'd be playing him as a false 9 both dropping off and running beyond Oscar or Tetteh instead of playing a more traditional 10 perhaps.

    But that's a lot of 'ifs' .

I was thinking you'd put the team in the positions they would play. I see the team as a graphic not as an essay.

So if you played Connolly who would you drop?

You'd have a 'false 9' as well as a real 9? That messes with the theory of a false 9.

You could call it a 3rd pivot but I can see you need to have more basic and straightforward pigeonholes to comprehend.

But ultimately, if even I am telling you to call it a night, then we both probably need to find a different rabbit hole or can of worms to explore elsewhere.

    Goodnight.

Greaves leaving would be terrible, you absolutely need local players in your squad/team, and if he goes I can’t see anyone in the current academy ranks being able to make that step up.

You obviously dont understand the concept of a false 9. It's so the centre backs have nobody to mark and are drawn out of position. Playing a 'false 9' AND a real 9 makes a total mockery of the whole idea.

It didn't at all when Connolly played off Oscar. You just didn't have the imagination to recognise it.

He came deep as much as he ran beyond.

    That's not a 'false 9'
