Not sure how I'd feel about this. Decent keeper if a complete lunatic. I don't think he's nearly as good as people suggest - most of it is hype following the world cup. And at 31 years of age come September, doesn't have room for improvement and isn't a long term solution.

There’s been a bit of talk about Kane’s future the last few days.

Various reports say Utd (ten Hag) wants him but they may focus on alternatives due to the problems they’d face trying to sign him and he also keeps sparingly getting the occasional Bayern rumour.

One report the other day, can’t remember by who, said that we’d involve Kane in somewhat of an Mbappe-esque type of deal if he agrees to stay in that he could have a say on the new manager.

Ornstein today says we’ll intiate talks over a new deal and will continue them into next season if need be, saying we have zero intention to sell this summer.

I'm surprised you wouldn't want him just to wind us Arsenal fans up!

Jokes aside, he's a competent enough goalkeeper, however, he's not top quality. He was excellent in our FA Cup run in 2020 and his first season at Aston Villa, but - and I don't know if it's coincided with fans returning or he was riding on the crest of a wave - his weaknesses are evident. He's usually a good shot stopper, but his decision-making can be erratic, his positioning from set-pieces and footwork aren't great, and the accuracy of his distribution is subpar by modern standards. He loves an elaborate save for the cameras, though. He's decent with reflexes and close-range shots.

He's certainly a ****house and knows how to win a penalty shootout, but his 'bravery' can lead to idiocy in games, which we've seen multiple times.

Considering he signed a new deal with Aston Villa at the start of the season, Villa will demand an exorbitant fee for his services, especially from a fellow Premier League club - and for the price they'd demand, there are better goalkeepers out there who could elevate you to a higher level.

    Good question.

Suppose it’d be whether he went sentimental or experimental.

Poch got him scoring goals for fun whilst Jose got him playing as a better all round footballer, albeit Jose would never return, so Poch for sentimental reasons, more so if Poch was given assurances on backing.

Maybe Zidane or Enrique for experimental reasons, play under another big name like Jose/ Conte and hope they’re the ones to build a top side and break the trophy hoodoo, they’d likely play a more eye catching brand of football too.

Doesn’t appear Kane is interested in going abroad. Especially now the PL record is firmly in his sight. If United go for someone else I think that’s our only hope of keeping him tbh. That’s the only thing that might get him to re-sign, though he might fancy his chances of ending up somewhere acceptable on a free the next summer.

I hate to be harsh, but if at this stage of his career he values breaking Shearer's record over winning major trophies, I'd question his priorities.

It’s not an unfair question to ask. Then again he knows his legacy as England, Spurs, and potentially PL top scorer will be greater than winning a pot at a club away from Spurs. I don’t know how much he cares about the public discourse around him but the social media abuse won’t stop just because he joins another club and wins a trophy.

Not sure if they have time to play the long game tbh. Barca are resurgent domestically and Benzema isn't getting younger. Haaland definitely isn't moving anywhere for the next few years at least, whereas Mbappe might as it really does look at though the PSG state sponsored vanity project is falling apart at the seams.

However, more importantly than the timing of it, do you think either player suits Real's system as well as Kane would?

I see him as the closest thing to a like for like replacement for Benzema as is humanly possible without cloning the Frenchman. The two have so many similarities to their game, especially the way they link up play and being others into the game. If anything, Kane is even better at it than Benzema is.

The idea of Vinicius, Rodrygo and Asensio playing off of Kane's movement and industry must be one hell of a tempting prospect for Sen Perez, if he is still on talking terms with Levy that is.

It seems that Los Ladrones' usual unsettling campaign is sinking it hooks into Mbappe, while Haaland has a release clause which triggers next summer (albeit a €200m release clause, but if they do what they always do that won't be worth the paper it's printed on)

The real issue with Los Ladrones going forward isn't replacing Benzema, but replacing Modric and Kroos - which is where Mbappe and Haaland make a lot of sense, as that implies they're planning a ground-up tacticval overhaul instead of continuing the same tactics with different players shuffled in

    Congratulations.

I sincerely hope it is a different club that announces the birth.
