He was a big reason why newcastle won today. In all seriousness isak was excellent ... hopefully he can keep it up because its about time
Isak is the key Almirons goal was through an excellent pass from Willock, who was superb today. Think an attacking three of Gordon, Isak and Willock would produce goals. Bruno is our most gifted player technically, so it's Joe or Longstaff who bite the bullet
Thought it was between Isak and Willock for motm. Would probably give it to Isak. The Miggy, Tripps, Bruno triangle move has been well and truly sussed out. Thought Maxi looked good in attack but he leaves Burn woefully exposed at the back. Trippier is the one I now worry about the most. Can't work out if its an instruction he's been given to leave his post at corners and to stand so narrow or if he's just doing it himself but either way it needs to stop.
I thought so too, was convinced it should have been a penalty but Hung informs me they would have had to take the play back in which it would have awarded us a penalty
Anyone else notice that Burn was actually fouled in their box immediately before that. If he had gone down we would have had a pen
I ain't gonna defend the Wilson sub even if it resulted in me being placed before a geordie firing squad If Willock didn't deliver an inch perfect pass and Miggs didn't slot it home, everyone would have agreed. Wilson is ****ing hopeless.
Bruno seems to be catching some **** but I think he does a nitty gritty job that the team needs and he's more forward thinking than Joelinton, who tends to win the ball back and pass it to his sides and not even think about moving forward. Howe is sticking with Longstaff who is also willing to push through the middle, I think Gordon will be taking Max's spot and all that points towards a team that will be able to attack and not just defend, a defence which is falling apart. Max is a mid table prem player, type who would be a star at Palace but a top 5 team he is wasteful.
Had a good view and he was definitely fouled. Happened too quick for me to register if in or out of box. Also could be argued as obstruction as opposed to a foul(direct free kick/penalty). But definitely a foul and should have been given. It’s also a reason why some players go down easily as they know if they don’t then the dipstick in black won’t give anything. Another reason why fouls should be awarded regardless of whether a player goes down or not.
Even though Isak is physically weaker than Wilson, he's much more skillful on the ball so when he received he was holding onto possession longer, that possession allowed us to counter and we dominated while he was on the pitch. The subs were poor for me because Wilson does not hold onto the ball, he is so slow, can barely turn now and relies on defenders being **** and following him around. Their goal was when we no longer had Isak threatening and keeping the ball up top and Wolves just piled on more and more pressure and Trippier who is on another planet completely just fluffed his lines. I think the subs cost us a goal and we are lucky Almiron decided he would take a shot today, I think a spell on the bench did him well as @Darren Peacock’s Ponytail said.
Disagree on their goal. Their goal was purely as a result of Tripps slipping. If he hadn’t slipped they wouldn’t have scored as the ball would have been cleared.
I think their goal was coming, they had at one point 67% possession and we just could not hold onto the ball to save our lives. Tripps though, I just don't know what's happened to him. I can say Howe made bad subs, but I can't ignore the fact Howe has no other options, who else can be bring on? Man needs 6 new players.
A bit harsh on Trips who I thought was ok apart from the slip for their goal. Are you forgetting that Almiron was one of those poor subs?
