Sorry mate, can't be right ...

... the BBC is a hotbed of rabid far left sympathisers according to the clever lads.

    Really?

"THE BBC’s political editor, Laura Kuenssberg, has been accused of “acting as an unofficial spokesperson” for Boris Johnson’s government after her report on the Toriesplan to hike National Insurance (NI) contributions."

Everything has changed since 2018. Including who Lineker's boss is.

And yet again - he hasn't had his freedom of speech taken away. If he had the tweet would never have appeared. What has been taken away is his freedom from consequences. Just like all the others that have lost their jobs and livelihoods for not joining in the partisan groupthink lunacy that's become a feature of political debate since 2016.

Rather than goading I’m trying to make a point that very little of the media is without bias and the vast majority is under what I’d consider to be right wing ownership. With far too many years of Tory government a broadcaster taking central ground on issues will appear left leaning. But when a left wing government is in power the opposite accusations will inevitably appear after time. Of everyone out there I think the BBC does a pretty decent job despite the huge amount of pressure the government puts it under with threats to the funding model etc.

The BBC can't back down now. If they do it's open season.

Can Lineker back down is the question. Will others think his childish behaviour worth losing their job over?

I see Jermaine Defoe has done the right thing and refused to appear on MoTD 2 tomorrow.

Quite right, he doesn't even have to agree with what Lineker has said, he could be totally opposed ...

... it's simply having the right to an opinion in your spare time.

For many years MOTD was designed to attract middle aged women who could say, "Isn't that Alan Hansen a lovely lad, always has his hair nice." Then 'the experts' could explain why that goal was offside.

They didn't have to appeal to confirmed football fans, they'd watch no .matter what the format was. That's proved by the fact they still watch with women commentators ...

    ... and Jonathan Pearce <laugh>

Until the next time someone speaks out against the tories on a public forum and the same thing happens. It’s becoming more about that than Lineker now.

Looks like the taxi pick up has been changed to Richard Sharp, BBC Chairman.

Depends on whether they have previous issues, I suppose. It's not a one-off incident. He's chosen his hill to die on, the question is whether he's willing to take anyone with him for the sake of his ego.

Do we have any evidence that the government had him removed? Because if we do, I'd be interested in seeing it.

Surely it's about making political comments about any party ...

... but does that mean no one at the BBC can criticise Putin or Macron as that would indicate bias.

Agreed, that should said government rather than the tories. They are meant to be impartial.
