As most people who tune in only want to see the highlights of the games they would be quite happy to see just those without overpaid presenters pontificating about what they have just watched.

It is wonderful to see so many prominent people coming out in support of GL and it highlights just how badly the BBC have ****ed this up. Like Alaistair Campbell said, if they really had a problem with what he said, they would have sacked him on the spot when he said it, but what they were doing was waiting to see how the media reacted so that they could follow the discourse flow. Of course, the outrage porn rags went mental so they booted him. It’s not like Gary Lineker is going to struggle to get a media job.
