Yeah, I mean I'd prefer Charly there all day long, to occupy Casemiro a bit, in a way that Lucy likely wouldn't (ie - with some pace), but I'd far rather not risk Charly if there's any hint of doubt.
Agreed. But if he's not 100% go with Ely. From memory Ely tends to do better against the bigger sides as they come on to us so he has more room to operate in. He doesn't have the pace or the creativity to be effective against teams who stick 10 men behind the ball and look to hit us on the break.
We will be doing much more defending and have much less of the ball against United, so it is the sort of game Ely can utilise his strengths. As much as we rip him due to constantly breaking up attacks by having no pace or creativity, he does have a good work rate and doesn't shy away from his defensive duties.
I'm chalking up tomorrow as a loss (just don't do anything silly to the GD) - and would rather have Charly at 100% for Brentford.
Strongest team possible. If we are 2-0 or more down on the hour then bring off the five best players and rest them for Brentford. Have to go for it in every game. Any bit of luck can occur to put you in a winning position. Then you just defend like mad. If we only try to win the games that look ‘winnable’, we’re down.
Totally agree. You never know when there might be a reckless challenge and a red in your favour (though that obviously makes a team stronger, and doesn't tend to happen at OT). Been watching this silly game long enough to know that any result is possible.
I'd like to see the KWP/Stuey combination on the right (it's always been a creative one) with Perraud/Sulemana on the left but fully expect Ruben to bring Mo El in if Charly doesn't make it with AMN at RB.
Wonder if Diallo will be in the team too, Does really good in that JWP role too, And maybe play JwP slightly more forward.
I’d be more inclined to bring Diallo in for Alcaraz and play JWP slightly further forward in the 3. Diallo works well in the midfield 3 next to Lavia.
We could follow the NJ logic and get one of our players sent off, as "It's always harder playing against ten men"
Bree again in the B team. Did he do something to piss Selles off? I really want to know because it seems very petty of Selles if he is just doing this because Bree is Jones’ man. With KWP likely to leave in the summer, and Tino still broken, Bree could be our best option for RB next season. He was highly regarded in the Championship and he could turn out to be at least as good as Perraud.
It’s pretty likely he isn’t as good as KWP, and weren’t you the one saying earlier we should be playing our best team trying to win every game? I’m not fussed if he isn’t in the matchday squad when other options are available
