He's been scoring for fun in La Liga since he left, just obviously wasn't that good in the Prem. Like when Luuk De Jong was dogshit for us then blew the Dutch Division apart. Some players are just good in particular leagues; even Luque managed to be good in the Spanish league ffs
Isak isn't "unproven" though. He had a 1 in 3 strike rate for Real Sociedad and has similar for Sweden at international level. Maybe he's yet to prove himself in the PL, but he's nit had much opportunity yet and still has 3 in 8 (including sub appearances). So yes, I think he deserves a chance. Wilson has struggled for torm since the world cup. We're not talking one or two games, it's been a while now, he's.off.rhe pace, not getting into the danger zone and when he does he's missing chances. I'd give him a rest and try Isak. And no, that's not "betraying" Wilson, it's giving him a rest. If we had the right players, then I would like to try them both, with Isak having freedom to play in a #10 style role. It might create more and bring Wilson into more scoring positons. But I'm not convinced we have the right players for that system - at least not while Joelinton is suspended.
Joselu is a much more prolific striker in Spain. I agree play isak just not at the expense of our best goalscorer
He's not destroyed just like the rest of the side that's over achieved so far. He'll score goals again that's what he's good at. Tomorrow potentially.
This. I think it would be good for Wilson to come on towards the end of a game and rough up the defenders who are already tired. See if he can then get that goal to get his confidence back.
Howe just confirmed he'll start pretty much.. Thankfully he's not listening to the same fans that argued until they were blue in the face that Joelinton couldn't even control a ball.
@Roland Deschain So there we have it.. the £60 million isak isn't even fit which is the lowest requirement of any player at any level.
He's just said he isn't even fit enough to start games.... I'm beginning to believe he's an absolute waste of money.
I understand he's been injured but come on it's the middle of March. 60 million I'm sorry but they could've bought toney and another player for that amount. It's been a complete waste of money so far anyway.
Yeah, it's all Isak's fault, I'm sure. So a £60m player who managed (in La Liga) 30+ apps in 3 seasons somehow isn't fit enough to play a PL game? Righty-o. Or could there be cracks in the Howe armour? This is a man known for his inability to change and here he is, refusing to change.
Isak is another sign that this is gonna be a long project that's gonna take a while to really kick off. Isak is only 23, he's far from his prime. He deserves a season to get up to the pace.
I agree with this, by the way. I think Isak will be a fantastic player in the end, but what we needed in the Summer was constant upgrades in every department, not an entire budget spent on one player. Same error in Jan, Gordon looks undeveloped and erratic, with no stats to suggest he's a £45m player.
