When he signed, some wise soul pointed out how few 20 year olds make an immediate impact in the PL, how gnonto has been an exception not the rule, how the price tag shouldn’t be his burden and that he hoped his fellow Leeds fans would show some patience… which he felt was unlikely. can’t remember who said it… probably Jammy
Ffs are we afraid of upsetting players signed who do not even look like top players. Rutter has been signed for ortas ego. He is hoping the winger turns out to be a top striker.
He was obviously signed hoping they'd get 60m back in a few years. I think getting on players backs because they're not justifying their price tag is completely counter-productive - it isn't going to make him play better. It's better for the team if he plays well, he's more likely to play well if he feels he has support. The treatment Jay-Roy Grot got at Elland Road was a disgrace in my opinion. It's obviously not like that for Rutter and it doesn't mean we can't vent spleens on here if he plays sh*t, it's just keeping a sense of perspective. In terms of did we pay too much for a 'prospect'? Given our league position was that what we needed at the time? All valid perspectives... infact i made them in January. But in terms of Rutter the player and what he will become... too early to judge for me.
