Slaven Bilic has been sacked by Watford. Chris Wilder has agreed a short-term deal to take over until the end of the season. He nearly made it to six months, which at Watford gets you a long service medal.
I think the Watford job should come with the tagline: Wanted, Another Tit For Organising Rancid Displays terrible fit..Wilder to Watford
Until last season I think you would have to admit that their strategy of replacing managers quickly had worked. They’re a small ish club and survived in the top flight quite well. But surely now their strategy is starting to come undone. Managers are not even expecting to last longer than a few months, so why would they make an effort to succeed - they get their contract paid up and it’s not even counting as a failure on their cv any more. Everyone knows it’s just the watford owner being nuts. My only thought about a manager taking that job is to question their ambition and dignity. They now look like they’re just looking for a quick pay out.
Apparently they don’t pay out that much when they sack managers, something about the contracts they offer. Probably on the lines of, we’ll pay you well while your here, but not giving you a big payoff if we have to sack you, but probably in more legal terms.
Couldn't have happened to a nicer bloke. Cracking player, but too arrogant for management. Plus jumpers.
Rosenior mentioned sending them there because Oxford play good football in a similar style to us. McCann plays a very different style, so I can't imagine Rosenior will be delighted.
Well regardless of the style they were playing, Fleming and Smith weren't playing much of it sat on the bench.
Aside from injuries Fleming never appeared to fit with McCann's teams / style of play and I suspect would have been on his way out if things had not changed. Was it Shotta who gave Fleming the new contract?
