I am there a couple of times a week with the middle boy. It’s very community based and is magnificent. The whole area was redeveloped. It’s across the road from the main stadium. There are countless pitches and facilities. Employment is in the hundreds. On Friday we were watching the first team training. We were not meant to mind…on downside is they sweep up a lot of youngsters from the local leagues and schools and are very quick to discard them. United take in a lot less and spend more time with them before making a decision. United took alot of the youngest academy boys to Wembley for the final last week along with their parents all free of charge. City have the facilities united have the culture to nurture
So are you there because your lad is playing for one of their teams? Aren't the pitches and facilities for the use of the various Man City teams and the college/institute that is there? Isn't it across from the main stadium simply because that was the area in need of redevelopment? (Sorry not trying to pick any kind of argument with you posintilclosin just trying to understand the concept and you seem to be the only one who's there regular)
Yeah im really keen to hear if you’ve got to be tied to the club or if you and 5 mates want a kick about, are there facilities for that?
Bit of a druggie problem in the area at times though. Partner’s daughter lived in apartment opersite but moved elsewhere. Could be evenings that where the problem.
he is being looked at by city. For his age group they are at capacity however they have like a second pool who they keep looking at and use this pool to replace any that drop Out. The pitches are used for all the city training and teams. First team were there on Friday. All other teams train there or use the mini stadiums for. Games. Local teams are invited to play against some of the academy sides. They have training pitches for girls teams and goalkeepers only. The community are allowed to use the facilities at certain times. The whole area was a dump until the commonwealth games. Man City have improved it drastically over the years including the infrastructure. He does play for an academy side occasionally but mostly still training with them. He has been there a few months and they like him. He played last Friday against a good local team and ran the game. If he keeps up his progress he will be signed when there is space available. If it takes too long then others are interested. The set up at city is immense.
This may be a little controversial but if Acun (and his potential backers ?) Have the money I'd be inclined to build a new site, as people are saying on the outskirts were there is land, I wouldn't give 2 sh1ts about fkn Eff See !, they're like a flea catching a ride on a pedigree dog. Let em stay in the MKM and try to fund it while the Council plough fk all into the repairs and maintenance. Walton Street is crying out for redevelopment, but this council is too short sighted to see the benefits. While AP makes cooing noises in the background knowing he won't have to dip into his pocket
Acun is very much about promotion of the ACUN MEDIA brand... whatever is built will have to be State of the Art...IMO
Perfect bit of land is between the two Parkways in Willerby and Cottingham - access from either , flat farmland nice area lots of room . Can’t join the roads because of some old priory ruins I believe .
Agree. If we attempt to squeeze it onto Walton Street and some of West Park we'd only get about 16 to 25 acres max with no room for expansion and likely shared facilities with RL. Why limit our growth? Ridiculous to compare this space to the Etihad complex which is spread over 80 acres. Yes Man City are unique in having everything together on their inner city site but every other Category One Academy Training Ground is away from the club stadiums in quiet rural settings and most with room for further expansion.
There's not a chance in hell that City playing home games on the outskirts of the city will be a success. We have a fragile support as it is so putting logistical barriers in the way is a terrible idea.
They’re a couple of large sites just outside Brid. A rebrand to East Yorkshire Tigers to attract all those sponsors that Allam said would come in if we had tigers in the name. A monorail from Brid station to the site and it would be a winner.
